2010 SS Front Brakes
My front brakes are pretty much not working at all. After driving the car home today and a few heavy stops before parking, the front rotors were warm, but no where near as hot as the rear rotors. The rotors are mostly covered in rust and have been for a week or so. I went to replace the front pads/rotors yesterday but of course the pins were seized. I am waiting for a pin replacement kit from CED to continue working on them. I am curious if anyone else has had this problem and if there's any advice on what will fix it. Hopefully I do not need new calipers. 2010 SS/TC 36,xxx miles on it. I replaced the rear pads/rotors about 500 miles ago/ a month ago. Front brakes have never been serviced. Any help would be appreciated.

I am under extended warranty right now. I made a call and talked to the service manager and I'm going to have them take a look at it. I don't really know what else it could be besides the calipers going bad. I thought maybe the brakes need to be bled but the reservoir is full and I've never done any service to the brakes that would require bleeding. See what happens I guess

Figured I'd update this if anyone was curious. Brought it to the dealer and they figured it was the pins. So they replaced those under warranty and gave it back. It felt a little better but still not normal. So I went to replace the pads and rotors today and figured out the actual problem. The pads were rusted to the caliper. The pads were completely rusted and not moving at all on the passenger side, while only one pad was moving on the driver side. Got them cleaned up nice and back together. Took them out to bed them and they're good as new! Overall good experience with the dealer. They scratched the crap out of one of the calipers trying to get the pins out. They agreed to replace the caliper to fix it. I have no complaints.

They told you pins that only keep e pads in place were causing the brakes not to work well, and then completely missed the fact that a pad had rusted to the pistons. Did they even try to take them apart, or just decide to hammer the pins out and nothing else?

Having the pins being rusted (which is incredibly common on these calipers) has nothing to do with the stopping power.
Find a better dealer...

The ironic thing about this is, i had my front right and rear left frozen when i got my car, I assume they were just never greased from the factory. Then when I put a nastra rebuilt caliper on, I disassembled it to make sure they greased the new pins...sure enough, no grease. Def. something to look out for when replacing the calipers should you go that route and not just replace the bracket and pins.
