ok, so i looked at mine, i just got 1k miles today, and there was a little wear on it, nothing major yet but it was scuffed up enough to know it was rubbing, i zipped it up and it looks like its gonna be ok, now what are we talking about with the blue dot, i see that place now, and mine is only about 1/2 an inch from the dot (seems good.. maybe sedans got more attention? ), i tightend the bolt down a few turns though just to be safe. i think were talking about two things in the same thread so thats where i was getting a little lost, but i was also wondering, how much boost does the 09 make stock? i'm getting about 15-18 with no mods....

(edit)
ok.... i dont know how to post pics, but when i do, i think i did a badass job of zipping these, if u twist it a little, it keeps the small wire from getting pinched by the zip pressure, and if u pull the zip from the top insted of the bottom like urs it hides it better, and u can get it good and tight cause u can hold the harness up while you tighten it with the other hand.... i was looking at this and wondering why it would move around enough to wear through it, and all i can figure is hard shifting and the motor mount rubbers letting it jiggle around in there a little, obviously its not gonna happen instantly, but over time... if were all having this problem then were not the only ones, there will probably be a recall on that part but not for another 5 years... lol

lots of banning going on I'd just get replacement charge pipes IMO than using the cheap OEM ones.

I noticed my charge air tube has some slight rubbing marks against the A/C line. I am not sure why GM didn't bend the A/C line a bit more. Any ideas on how to fix this?

AEM makes it?!? wtf? That's a little disappointing to know that they made such a crappy design. Maybe they figured, "ehhh it's a chevy so we'll just make them a shitty design". I just wish the hahn charge pipes weren't so much..

if you cut a notch into a washer and make it C shaped, and try REAL hard squishing the rubber down around it you can get it on there pretty tight, tight enough that it feels like it'll break the plastic before the thing pops off... in stock form, a little pull, almost no force at all, and its off...

i can believe there aem though... GM dosent have much experience with turbos so someone had to make some of the parts... they should have made it a little nicer and put AEM right across the top and make that like a big deal... brembo brakes, aem charge pipes.. ect...

I wouldnt recommend this fix but thats just me, My buddy did the same and the harness to that plug highlight a few posts ago got worn threw that large black metal and was causing his regulator to short. Came back with LIMP mod and the P0091 code (low circuit regulator) Had to rewire and add extra protection around it. Ziptie modders we warned

Well if you are the looks type they have that version aswell that looks just like the hahn with less pieces. The one that you say is "ugly as ****" is for those of use that want performance over looks and it performs better than any other out there.

Allthough I do have to agree that the Hahn setup does look a bit nicer, the Clear Image (from what I've been finding) does seem to perform slightly better and is just straight up less expensive. $350 is just way more attractive to me than a shinier $500 Hahn charge pipe under my hood.

Don't get me wrong, that Hahn pipe kit really does look killer though..

Yeah $350 for cp, $450 for temp treated cp, but do you think that is worth it or even necessary? (the temp treated that is)

Like stated above CIA has a version that follows the same routes as hahn but looks better IMO because they use less couplers. And that kit is the same price as there performance kit.

From my understanding charge piping really does very little for performcane anyways. Maybe 5WHP if your lucky. Until you go bigger turbo, its really just an apperance mod and a saftey net over the stock crap. So if clear image performs better than hahn it might be 1whp better. Only reason ive choosen hahn parts is for the looks of their products. Pricey but worth it, especially when you pop the hood.

CIA's performance kit is almost 1' shorter than anyone else. This means faster spool time. Its not all about HP, and yes the gain is going to be minimal.

Why didn't they just use a metal stud and a locking nut for the charge air pipe? Fasten that thing down and we wouldn't have anything to worry about.

Actually a lot of times what happens is the plastic mount that holds it cracks and it breaks loose anyway.

Made by AEM for GM. When I removed mine I say AEM stamped right on the plastic part of the pipe. Had to meet crash test, cost, and hood clearance regualtions. plastic is cheap and easly to mass produce and it breaks away on impact.

Also keeps things light and helps GM meet the ridiculous CAFE regulations the government has set...

People always wonder why more plastic is showing up in interiors...it is light and allows them to meet government regulations...

Should I wrap the A/C line with 3/4" coolant hose? Would this stress the clip on the pin even more? It will push against the charge air tube, but at least the A/C line won't rub a hole into the plastic tube.

my pipe came loose, so I rigged it with a zip tie so it wouldn't move around. Now it broke where my zip tie was holding it and sharp piece of plastic has rubbed against two cables exposing the wire.
terrible design on the charge pipe

For those that are interested in a cleaner and more permanent fix than a zip tie may want to check this option out: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-10-ss-turbocharged-general-discussion-152/another-stock-charge-pipe-mount-fix-option-170575/

Nice! I also wondered about using a large washer to hold it down. I wonder why GM didn't go with this approach.
