Maximizing Boost without beating it up?
i appreciate any and all responses / advice as i also DO UNDERSTAND that it may vary some from car to car as no two are the same ... but i have a Quick question for all you veterans of turbochargers and cobalt ss's that have them....boost, how would you tell someone to maximize the turbo??? get boost early in a gear? late? more beneficial at fewer rpms? higher rpms? gradually push the gas to let it spool till "x" rpms before getting into boost? i just want to know what you all have noticed maximizes it / works best or is "typically" the best way. idk if this changes or helps, but i have an 09, over 400hp e85 tune...thank you in advance

Um, 400hp,so u have a Zfr or something other than k04 turbo then. This question is kinda weird. What I usually do is ill go part throttle till about 3500rpm then go to the floor. I stay at peak boost till redline on Zfr, and it just keeps pulling harder all the way there. U can tune it to basically behave how u want with a boost ramp, other than that , just don't he givin her in in low rpms in higher gear

i guess i assumed not to hit it hard until rpms were at a level to upshift ( 2500+ ) definitely not below 2k......and its e85 tuned...Idk if I can bring myself to redline it tho lol....my first turbocharged car...I didn't know if there were any quirks about getting maximum potential out of your boost, that's all....ive read post from guys saying they hit 7000 rpms nonstop...to me that's just askin for a new engine / transmission...just didn't know if certain things were a definite don't do ( boosting at low rpms in higher gear like ya said) / certain things were a "should do"...thanks for you help

If you are zfr.....boost ramp will help from beating up the tranny. But my car been on zfr @26 psi w/ boost ramp and redlining just under 7k stock tranny for 30k.

He has my old car, built motor by Performace Autowerks with a BW6258. 5th injector on e85. Like I said to you Mitch. Do not worry about getting on the car, it was built to have fun. Don't do any low RPM pulls and you will be okay, don't overthink, just have fun!

Yes, I have a build thread on here somewhere. Since its build 2 years ago I've went through a couple of turbo changes with testing for Pwerks and then landed on the 6258. It was tuned by Dave on full E last fall when I added their 5th injector. Many dyno pulls and zero tranny issues. Has Spec Stage 3+ in it which is perfect. Mitch is new to turbo cars so has some learning too do. Like anyone he is nervous and doesn't want to hurt the car. If you maintain it correctly you shouldn't have any issues, I never did. Not saying issues couldn't arise, it is a car haha, but proc autumn's have been taken during my build to minimize that from haopening.
