It’s not normal to hear such sounds. You should probably change the tranny fluid.

Mine does it since I bought the car at 8,000 miles. I would consider it normal. If my tranny fluid is causing it since 8k, we would have problems.

I make tranny noises all the time. its like a clunking noise as the U bolt clunks at the spindle in the wheel, at least thats what it sounds like to me. I've had it since day 1 and I noted it was there. Its the norm. Whining noise is not normal in 2nd gear through 5th.

WHEN does it make the noise? We have a shifter cable linkage, so its loud as hell when shifting. Also with LSD it will whine at low speeds etc. So the question, is WHEN and WHAT type of noise.

Bringing the thread back lol... Got a LSJ trans in my car... Put it in and when cruising low rpm 2nd and 3rd gear and let off throttle, the car jerks and makes kinda a clunk noise..wondering of this is internally or maybe a mount or control arm not tightened all the way?

For instance, if I'm driving on the highway for awhile, then get off and have to put it in reverse, you would a feel a clunk or "jerk" while going in... Any input?

seeyaass,

Have you already had this looked into, or were you planning on doing so? I'm happy to be of any assistance if you decide to work with your dealership. Send me a private message with the last 8 of your VIN if you would like for me to look into this a bit further.

Best,
Sarah

My transmission has done this since I bought the car at 9,300 miles, car now has 40k (~17k tuned) and she's holding strong. My dad's brand new c6 does the exact same thing.
