Alcantara cleaning instructions
Some good info on the manufacturer's suggested cleaning methods as well as a link to their site for suggested cleaning products.
EDIT: Here's the manufacturer's actual maintenance manual. http://www.alcantara.com/en/experien...anuale_eng.pdf
They actually suggest using ethyl alcohol on "stubborn" stains. Whodathunkit
Here's some more suggestions... I think you'll see the trend.

Basically the material just gets rubbed down with oil and dirt from everyday use (rub your fingers together and see the oil that comes off, it's kinda like that). The fibers will get matted and pushed down, making the insert look tired and dull.
I'm thinking a clean Kiwi shoe brush would do a fine job.

I don't have anything better to do so I'm researching this like crazy. I bought my car with the seat matted down like this and I really want to clean it up. After reading about this, I'm glad I didn't try steam cleaning it.
As a general rule when cleaning Nubuck, Alcantara Ž, Ultrasuede , Ecsaine, Micro suede, etc you should only to use products specifically designed for this type of fabric. Avoid using a product designed for cleaning leather. It's also important to do a patch test before cleaning any fabric to make sure the colour or integrity of the fabric won't be damaged. To do this, apply your cleaning product to an area that doesn't show to see what the effect will be.
Use a napping brush to raise the pile and loosen / separate the fibres.
Remove pilling with a single-sided razor blade and then apply a suitable cleaning solution on to an applicator pad and apply to one area at a time (do not over-wet the fabric) and do not use wet steam.
Localized stains can be treated with a d-limonene (citrus) based cleaner (P21S Total Auto Wash) ensure surface is dry before use by leaving window cracked/open or SONAX NTS7 Upholstery Cleaner for BMW, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz Alcantara materials. Avoid alcohol, strong solvents or spirit based cleaners (particularly perchloroethyene and trichlorethylene).

Alcantara (Ultralux, which is what GM calls it) is actually a very durable material as long is it is cleaned and taken care of.
I see what you did there

I just went ahead and bought reclinable racing seats, 10x more comfortable on my lower back then the stock seats, better driving postion, ton more room in the back seat due to how small the racing seats are compared to stock. Ill have to get some pics when I get A chance.

i havent seen what it looks like, but that material will and can get matted down, and a suede brush will fix it unless you have goooooooey **** all over your seats.
ROB will take all defective TC seats

hey guys (and gals), it seems people here are thinking too much, and not acting enough.
I noticed this a while ago, and pulled out my McGuire's(?sp) interior cleaner, lightly misted it over the area, and surrounding material, and used a cloth to rub it off.
good as new.
The product I like is actually discontinued, but is essentially a diluted carpet cleaner in a spay bottle.
it looked something like this:
I think it has since been replaced with THIS.
you might even get decent results with a mild soapy solution, and doing the same spray on, lets it for a couple moments, then wipe off...
I hope this helped!

IMHO these two posts nailed it;
Then again, I put alot of miles on it this summer, and although I'm not a total slob, I don't treat the car as a sterile environment - I regularly eat/drink in the car - occasionally does stuff get on the seats...
but seriously a little cleaning and it's now as good as new...
