How can I hook up my iPod to factory stereo?

I got a video iPod for x-mas, and have been looking all over the internet for a way to hook it up to my factory stereo in my cobalt.

Anyone in here have it hooked up or know how to?

FM Modulator is the only way at this point. Because we have a GMLAN radio there aren't any kits for aux input yet.

I have been looking for ever for a kit or converter, ect. It seems in the new GM models they are going to put an AUX input into the front of the radio just for this.

Yup, you need a radio transmitter that makes a low power pirate radio station that you can tune your FM radio to. You can get one for about $100 US, give or take.

i got a plug in that goes into my cigerette lighter and connects to my ipod...it will transmit my ipod through a low fm channel...sometimes i get a little static though if the station starts to get reception...but it has a few options that allows you to change the channel...think we paid 50 bucks @ radioshack

I got an FM transmitter around christmas, iTrip is what it's called. No power adapter, but it was only $40. I was just hoping I could install something into my stereo for better quality.

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/audvoxfmmod.html Here is the FM Modulator I'm looking at getting, but you need to get the adapter for it because GM has changed the antenna plug on the newer cars. The adapter can be bought from that site too.

I'm planning on doing this with some zip audio cables ( http://www.cablesunlimited.com/produ...roupcode=I3268 ) so that I don't have wires running all over the place.

the only problem I have had with FM transmitters is that when you get to an area that has a lot of radio stations you have to keep change the channel your transmitter is on. If you don't it gets staticy if there is another station on that frequency.

I put the Harman Drive +Play in my car using the AUX input.

Anyone who says there is not an AUX input on the stock head unit is wrong. Unfortunately, to use it you have to have XM.

Anyone with XM that needs help let me know.

The Harman kit is expensive but very nice. AI will have a kit available in a few months to adapt to GM LAN. It should be about $100 or so.
