Programming a new key
Hello all, I am trying to find out how to programm a new key we had cut for our 2006 Cobalt SS. After a runaround from the dealer, the wife picked up our second key. She gets to work and notices that it is a Pontiac key! It works but I didn't dig the fact that my new car has a key that don't match! I picked up a blank from a dealer near work who had several in stock. The dealer where the car was purchased said they were hard to find! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My 2005 LS keys are not programable, no chip in the key. I wanted some extra keys and went to Walmart and Home Depot and they couldn't make any keys for it. I was out at the flea market and the key guy cut me new keys from Saturn blanks.

To program the new key do the following:
1.Verify that the new key has a (+) stamped on it.
2.Insert the already programmed key in the ignition and start the engine. If the engine will not start, see your dealer for service.
3.After the engine has started, turn the key to LOCK, and remove the key.
4.Insert the key to be programmed and turn it to the RUN position within five seconds of the original key being turned to the LOCK position.
5.The security light will turn off once the key has been programmed.
*Repeat Steps 1 through 5 if additional keys are to be programmed. You can program a maximum of 10 keys.
