ZZP Stage 4 / South Bend Clutch
Got my clutch today.
Reading through the papers that came with:
I thought this was suppose to be the best clutch. Can't go past manufacturer's RPMS?...
Well that sux. I thought this was suppose to be able to handle more...
Also I have to machine my fly wheel and as much as it cost to get it machined I could have just bought a new one. Wish I knew that.
Reading through the papers that came with:
"Do not use our clutch in any situation where engine RPM's may exceed manufacturer's specifications - a pressure plate could explode unexpectedly causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and bystandards. Clutch cover and bell housing will not protect against exploding pressure plates."

I plan on buying one later this winter - I've only read good things about the ZZP clutch... *shrug*

You just got your Stage 4??
I was told the disk for it was on backorder for another 1 or 2 weeks... may hold up finishing my engine install past my target date.
On the earlier topic, it looks like ZZP says it'll be fine after all, but here's another vid of when a clutch explodes. Fast forward to 2:30.

I got the very last one before the back order I think.

So, I heard people rev and lunch from 2nd gear?
I tried that with the stock clutch today.
It didn't seem to happy. Smelled a little smokey, and didnt' get may anywhere to quick...
Never done it before. I always go through first, but figured since I'm replacing the clutch why not give it a shot.
My current unfinished tune has me limited to 4000 rpm on lunch control, which seems low to me.
Thoughts? Advice?

SO what damage could I have done?
What is a waterbox and why would you be able to do that in second.
I don't live near any racetracks, so I'm clueless to track terms.
Obviously not doing that again, but just wondering what I could have damaged.
I smelled smoke when I did it. Know that couldn't have been good.
No issues ... yet.

You smoked your clutch, probably didn't break anything. The waterbox lets the tires spin easier so you don't burn the clutch like you did.
I feel bad for your poor car... First lambo doors and now this. You are lucky that CPS stands for child protective services and not car protective services....

Why I figured it'd be a good time to try it.
Thinking if I was reving higher then 4000 it would have helped.
Was wet out.
