Anyone else have trouble reading dipstick?

I have to check, recheck and check again on my LDK to see oil level, and even then I'm not sure. I did add 6 quarts, so it isn't low, but the end of my dipstick is so dark, its very hard to see, a It was never that way on my LNF. I'm thinking about polishing the damn thing. Am I alone here?

Honestly I don't have much trouble. I look for the shininess of the oil to contrast with the dullness of the metal. If you have issues you can try to sand off the darkness.

Nope, as said above, it's not about finding a defined line on the dipstick. It's about reading the shininess on the stick and with multiple readings you should have a better idea.

I always wipe off my dipstick and then put it back in, then do the reading and you can see the oil line much clearer then.
