think i will be trying this. when i did a boost leak test i heard a hissing coming somewhere around the intake manifold, but i couldnt pinpoint it. maybe my vac box is leaking. its a decent leak too.

Is it the intake manifold? lol That would be crazy.

I forgot to reconnect one of the vacuum hoses back once after working on the coldside charge pipe, and it caused funky AFR swings and uneven pulls. Perhaps one of those hoses is cut, ripped, or loose.

Did you ever find the boost leak? I tried this today and at first it felt better quicker response then after turning off the car the boost flutter in vac came back. It bounces between 0 and 10 hg under low throttle. So I'm thinking I also have a boost leak somewhere.

Did the vacuum tank delete at about 5k miles. Been running it for 50k miles. Car is still perfect.

I did this mod on my car since the last time I posted above. I was having an issue I was troubleshooting and temporarily bypassed the tank, but in my car's case driveability and response were both improved enough by it that decided to keep it that way, and I did the full delete.

The Solstice/Sky doesn't even have the tank on their LNF, so there should be no difference in reliability. If anything, reliability may be improved by cutting down on the amount of vacuum hoses, and therefore possibilities of springing leaks.

I did this and all of my turbo flutter went away, but it runs great for about 10 min and then goes into limp mode until I turn the car off and back on. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

I have full bolt ons, blow off valve running half BPV, half BOV.

If I had to venture a guess, it may have something to do with this...

The weird thing is it never went into limp mode with the BOV setup prior to me bypassing the vacuum tank

This is going to sound stupid, but sometimes the simplest things are a good place to start: After doing it, were all the vacuum hoses reconnected, and none of them show any wear on them?

After working on a charge pipe one time I forgot to reconnect a vacuum hose going to the coldside, and had similar issues until I pulled over and figured out what I did (or didn't do, rather).

I checked all vacuum lines when I did the bypass (I had bad turbo flutter so I needed to check anyway). All the turbo flutter went away and it will run great for the first 10 min or so after I crank it, but then it goes into limp mode. If I turn it off and back on it wil do the same thing. Then I checked all the lines and they were on snug with no defects or cuts

Sounds like your TMAP sensor. Do you show any boost when revving in neutral?

I'll check tomorrow, wouldn't surprise me. I've been needing to upgrade to 3 bar map sensors for a while, is there anything I can do in the mean time to keep my car from going into limp mode if it is the MAP sensor?

Pull the TMAP out of the coldside pipe and check it for oil. If it is oily, you can try to clean it.

Best fix yet! I've long had the common driveability issues at low speeds/light throttle, with annoying bucking and compressor surge. As far as I can remember I had this problem with stock, GMS1, and Trifecta tunes. I came across this thread the other day after I again set the "bypass valve - mechanical" CEL and a MAP CEL, both of which I would intermittently get (every couple of months or so), accompanied with poor running and reduced boost. I tried this fix, leaving the canister in place, and just bypassing it, connecting the solenoid directly to manifold vacuum. I've gone over 100miles and its such an improvement! I no longer get the bucking at light throttle cruising, and driving in lower gears (1st and 2nd) is MUCH smoother, they used to buck. As far as increased boost goes, I haven't noticed it, but I also haven't really paid attention to it. Also, I haven't noticed any change in the BPV sound. I have noticed EXCELLENT drive quality improvement and I hope it stays that way!

Thanks to the OP for bringing this to the forum!

I had it explained to me. It is easy. 6" piece of 1/4" line. Follow the tank line to the manifold and solenoid. pull them off, replace with the 6" of tubing.
