I'm referring to factory drivability vs. power. I mean we all realize that going with ZZP cams in the future we can expect some reduction in fuel mileage and out of boost drivability? The engine doesn't have enough compression to make real use of an aggressive camshaft, now that doesn't mean there won't be sharp increases in power it just means your changing where you will find that power. It also means you will make more power at less boost which is good for those of us on the factory turbocharger.

playing with the cam timing and increasing the cam size are too differant things. if anything i would say if you did lose power it would probably be down low. but honestly that cam is better than stock but its by no means a very agressive style cam that you would associate with losing power at certain rpm points. If they came out with stage 1,2, and 3 cams for our cars like on most other cars those would probably be at best stage 1

BYT said he lost power top end with this set up... (stock cams)
thats what he said...
It actually gained power when further advancing the intake cam above 5500. Anything I did with the exhaust cam lost power tho, and badly above 6k!
But after gaining power and then doing an acceleration test, it was slower. I still never went to the track to try running either back to back and see what the difference was.

is this a stock turbo? the thing is with the cam timing you advance the cam it opens the valve sooner but it also closes the valve sooner because the lobe does not get bigger by advancing it. a bigger cam is going to keep the valve open longer and further no matter where you open it. also the stock turbo is going to have trouble making power up top just because of it's size anyway. ZZP said they were going to be testing cams next if you want you can always wait for them to do the R&D so you don't have to. at this point everything is speculation. direct injection is also a factor but i have no expieriance in direct injected cammed turbo 4 cylinders so i can't comment

Well, turbocharged engines benefit from a little overrun of the intake cam as the piston is heading back up, so that looks alright to me, but there's not much to be done with the exhaust, and that's what I am personally interested in changing.

im down to test it out... i mean zzp will do it and everything but how much are going to be for their cams? most likely stupid over price since they would be the only shop that would make cams for the LNF... but if we get this right and it works, we know there will be some high HP LNF out there

Well for the fact the lsj noodle header lost power in the header comparison dyno testing, and what they did to the Guy building the rwd cobalt on this site should say enough

Deathsycthe I think did the header comparison thread and search on here. For rwd cobalt. There was like 20 cobalt that went to Canada to get the car out of jbps shop

jeez...oh I got the response, and this is what happened.
response:
So you want to run our grind on the LNF Exhaust Cam?

I have a 2009 LNF powered Cobalt SS/TC and were over at cobaltss.net looking at the specs of the LE5 stock camshafts compared to ours and have come to the conclusion that it might be worthwhile to try the LE5 exhaust cam, we cannot use the intake cam due to our high pressure fuel pump cam lobe, so that's the strangeness behind the request.
I'd like to know if we can purchase ONLY the exhaust camshaft. And if so how much.
my take:
Isn't it obvious that's what I'm asking? I'd like to know how much, period.

I'm serious, and no offense when I say this about vendors, but if I make a request, I'd like information on the satisfaction of that request. I made no comment about a custom grind.
If I wanted a custom grind I'd pull my cams and have it done and then find a shop to machine new lifters for me. It's so much easier to grind the cams and have 16 duplicate lifters machined out to make up the grind difference.
Of course, in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, how hard could it be?
Anyways, I think these guys are gonna end up hostile so I'll just go with the stock LE5 cam and see what happens.
