Is GMS1 really that shitty?

They really are not bad at all. My girl has the se hatchback focus and the space is nice aswell as the radio dash features. I'm assuming it's very similar to the st interior minus the seats.

I got a good story for gs1 that might give u a idea. This was like last year around this time and the mods.
quick run down
2010 tc zzp catted dp, cp, drop in k&n, 20psi trifecta with boost ramp climbing to 21-22psi, 235 Dunlop DZ102's (Small boost leak cause by bypass valve at the time)
2009 tc. LDK, Aem intake I think, ic, cp, exhaust gms1/27psi trifecta tune. But he didn't use it in the race Cuz it caused his last engine to go boom lol like I told him it would
1 person with me 2 with the 09 probably about the same weight did like 2 runs in 60°F at like 600ft above sea level. Each time I was pulling him at the top of 3rd by mabe a fender or more he might have been NLS I wanst. We only got to 4th 1 time for like 2 sec. The LDK should have 10more hp out the gate. So Idk my tune was kinda for winter so it's on the mild side for sure. If u want to go hard with ur car get HP tuners. Trifecta if u just want a power bump and your stay on the stock turbo. I'll be getting hpt this spring after I pick a turbo to grab

That stupid 25-27 psi tune u can get. I think he had it for like 3 months on a 95k engine. I see him every now and then somthing like #3 cracked and the turbo blew it's seals or somthing idk it was bad enough for him to get a new engine lol

People seem to forget its essentially a canned tune and for what it is its actually pretty good. You get more hp more tq still get 30+ mpg and warrantied for 100k. Its not as good as a hp tune but even james could install gms1 and not blow up your car.

I raced the cobra last night, only lost by 1 car length. But I can feel the car pulling until I hit 5800 then it feels like i'm hitting a wall and I shifted at 6400.
I don't have any actually things to look at the way the car is running so I had to barrow my local shop's super expensive fancy scanner tool. I was able to bring up rpm, lambda, and stft. Stft was all over the place from -18 to 20. Lambda was from .95 to 1.05 driving around town and .95 to I think .87 at top end so I believe it's running on a GMS1 tune but hp tuned to turn off cat warmup and disable 2nd o2 sensor and codes. I don't know anyone locally with a hpt box to log and the closest person I know with one in in Tuscon almost 2 hours away.
I also beat a black LSJ with a ported eaton sc.

I only had GMS1 on my Cobalt and I liked it. I took that car to Road America a couple times for some track action and I wasn't worried at all about popping my motor due to having a tune close to the edge, trying to get that extra couple HP.
I always found it funny that GMS1 was more powerful for the Solstice/Sky than for the Cobalt. +10 hp and +20 ft-lbs . That put the torque rating to 340 ft-lb, which on a warrantied tune is pretty damn amazing.

Owned my HHR SS for almost two months, just installed intake/dp/intercooler/bpv and a few other bits. Went with a GMS1 just because the guy I bought all the parts from said he could flash it right now for a $100. My tuner that uses HPtuners prefers street tuning and wants to wait until better weather, so I figured another month at least maybe 2 until a real tune. And for $100 bucks? I think ive spent 20x before on n/a cars and not gotten 30hp/60ft lbs! Very worth it. Pulls nice now. 24-25psi coming this summer!

The biggest difference vs another lets say 20-21 psi tune and the GMS1 tune is the boost drop off up top. GMS1 drops off hard up top due to limiting in the tune. The stock turbo has more in it although it does drop off for sure.

It's simply a matter of money spent vs reward. 99.9% of people are out of warranty and it makes no sense to stick with a canned cal when you can have so much more in terms of driveability and overall performance. So don't lump me in with that crowd. I'm well aware as to what in the cal makes it ****.

lol yes when your warranty expires obviously HP or trifecta is better but when the balt came out GMS1 was a good tune for most.
even if aftermarket is better you still run the risk of breaking/wearing parts prematurely. it all depends on what you are looking for. do i agree that Hp and trifecta is better? of course it is miles ahead. would i agree that GMS1 is ****? no it's decent for what it is.

Gm tune is simply a mild, warranty tune. Nothing wrong with it. You just need to go with an aftermarket to make some more power. It depends what you want out of the car.
