HEEELP! No boost.

Ok so I was driving down the highway , cars been driving fine other than my clutch position sensor switch sticking which I was waiting on parts for... anyways went to go WOT didn't make it there, heard a very loud bang/pop as if something blew and sounded like something metal/plastic hit the road and under the car... it honestly sounded like my exhaust blew a part , car would not go past 0 PSI, still had vacuum... drove it home it was ok just literally no boost, wasn't boggy or sluggish.. came home and took it around the block to see if we could figure out exactly what it was doing after letting it sit for a while , got the code P0101 which doesn't help me much ... when we were stopped in the drive way and lightly revved the rpm up to about 2/2500 rpm it idled out and died... won't stay started now we looked the best we could at the piping, pulled on it, flanges, couplers, clamps look to be good and sturdy... puppet and lower , haven't checked the IC yet just the bottom of the end tanks and didn't see anything ... freaking out that I blew my waste gate or something along those lines ... any help is appreciated .

the code you have is for the mass air flow sensor range/performance. coupled with your loud pop, id guess you blew the end tank off the intercooler.

You definitely popped a charge pipe or intercooler. Too cold and the plastic gets brittle.

Awww, you sprung a leak.

Glad you found it. I am guessing we have seen your exact story no less than 100 times.

I have always wondered what percentage of stock intercoolers failed.

I still have my original intercooler and it only has 500 miles on it. Too bad no one is ever close enough.

It looks like the crack started when it got hit and got the initial dent. I've been on a stock intercooler for the last few months, I just don't go into high boost when it's really cold out and I'm not seriously lowered (YYZs) so I haven't hit anything.

I still have my stock IC in the garage. I was planning on throwing it back on when I go to sell the car but maybe I shouldnt do that to the next owner.

Yeah no way I'd do that to someone. My current one has been trouble free for 7+ years.

I've saved mine these years in case I ever had to trade it. Dealers would rather see stock stuff. Still have my charge pipes and intake also.

I mean that sucks but at least you have a decent amount of options for what to replace it with. MPX has an intercooler core that is supposed to hook up to the factory intercooler pipes.

Going to have to order an aftermarket one when the dollar is better if stock is so prone to failure.
