I sent Gloria an email to get the check valve and a spare filter. I can check things again before I put the car away for winter. It will probably only be another 1000-2000 miles though.

Just wash with soap and water? How many times can that be done?

I kind of forgot about this.

What is the reason for switching the direction of flow? I have it setup to flow the way that's indicated on the separator, which is the same as your original instructions.

there is a check valve in the top of the seperator. Some vehicles pull a lot of vacuum at idle, and if it does , it can cause the upper port seperator check valve to close, plugging up the pcv system and causing a "turkey call" noise that goes away when you open the rocker cover cap (which indicates the issue) and switching the lines fixes that.

if you dont have that issue, you are not pulling a lot of vacuum at idle.

this deal surprised me when it happened at first, but as I indicated at the get go, we are all participating in a "test fleet" . So far it has proven interesting and effective. v.1 we figured out the drain back need, v.2 we figured out the turkey call and v.3 we slotted the mounting bracket and changed some fittings for stock air box installs... one thing that has not changed, the upgrade takes care of oil coking of the inlet valves. All this assumes the oil rings and piston ring lands are not hurt lol

thanks for using and providing feedback on the Powell PCV upgrade. cheers

I think I might have that noise. To me, it sounds like geese. I actually looked up to see them, before I realized it was my car I have to assume that's the noise you're talking about. It happened occasionally in between autocross runs while it was idling. It's around 20-22 in hg at idle. My car has been in storage most of the time, but I'll get this taken care of before spring.

I have no doubt it works after seeing the separator filter. It should work even better now.

email me. I cant go into details on an open forum I do enough as it is lol. Todd has a s259 iirc on his LNF sedan and a PCV Upgrade but he did all sort of funky things with it. John@powellraceparts.com. We have done a lot more work on things, particularly seeing how we can pull more vacuum than the standard LNF ( .59-.89 HG under all conditions. Its a work in progress, and needs more measurement dynamically which means data acquisition and sensors, and happy worker bees. Alan McClure has done some LSJ turbo conversion measurement and made some trick fittings with different shapes and orientation, and it looks like we can pull a lot more vacuum than stock. It depends on the adaptor fitting for the inlet tube, which iirc on your conversion from ZZP is a 3/8 nipple welded on to the inlet pipe. Email me some pictures of your install and I can figure it out from there.

thanks

I only have the tiny S256 and not the bigger S259.. As John stated, I did all sort of funky things to minds and it seems to work pretty well.

I was thinking why we are not paying any attention to the oil that get ingested into the intake via the front pcv port that's in the intake manifold? We have the rear one covered but nothing is being done for the front port where all of your oil will be accumulated under non boost driving conditions?
The whole purpose of a pcv kit is to prevent oil from entering into your intake valves and contribute to one of the 3+ reasons for coking? John found a solution to prevent this in boost condition but I think someone should do one for non boost condition I think. And this will beneficial to when we are driving in non boost condition. I know how much my Summit oil separator get fill up. Maybe a stage 2 pcv port in in order? Just saying.

Todd the pcv vent path for that valve is circuitous and well seperated; assuming the motor is in good condition off throttle lots of vacuum; assuming the pcv valve is working. I have heard of valves not working never had one like that until last week I had a car the valve was stuck open. Valves were coked no doubt but no different to a car with a working pcv valve.

so...still looking at it, gotta run more tests but i think the Powell PCV upgrade does the heavy lifting for a solution.

Glad Shanedudes car is still good. I would love to borescope it...
