Need boost help

Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and this is my first post. I just bought a 2010 ss turbo. I'm having intermittent boost problems. Sometimes when I step on the gas it has no boost, the gauge barely moves and it seems if I let off and then hit it again it works perfect! Any suggestions? Car also gave me a p2261 code (bypass valve I read)

First thing I would do is bypass the vacuum tank under the manifold

PI: LNF- Intermittent DTC P2261 - Cobalt SS Network

Ok this is all new stuff for me! My first turbo. How would I know if my bpv needs to be replaced? Also might be a stupid question but is the bpv the same as a bov?

OP do this first.

They operate on the same principle although they are different in looks and overall function. Google it for a full explanation.

Please start with bypassing your vacuum tank first. I'm looking for pics but it's all taken down.

But to answer you other question. Our BPV recirculates the the blown off air back into the system. A BOV will vent the air to outside our. The stock BPV system is fine and easier to tune for.

But please bypass the tank first, clear the code, then drive it and see if it's better.

Then you can try to replace the stock valve.

Bypassing the vacuum tank is almost free and easy to do.

Some of the important people say don't, but mine has been like that for 5 years and haven't noticed any issues. The Kappa cars don't even have it. So it's not really needed.

Sorry I can't be more help with pics.

Agreed, the vac tank is only for sound muffling and quicker operation of the bpv. But bpv works just fine without it. Vac tank is just another failure point to worry about. Best removed. Mines been gone for 4 years as well, no issues

Ok it looks like I'm still having the same prob even with bypassing the tank. All the lines seem to be ok as well. So my next step is to replace the bpv. Any suggestions on what to replace it with? I should mention that the car has a zzp tune and zzp catless exhaust. I'm pushing about 23psi and my next mods are gonna be cai, pipes, then intercooler etc.

I would stick with a stock BPV. Secondly, do not add mods until you have fixed the problem.

Yes I will not be adding mods until the problem is fixed. But curious as to why stick with a stock one and not put a bov instead?

The stock unit and Forge BPV do not need to be retuned for.

If you go to a BOV you will need a major retune and change your charge pipe setup.

Really? I did not know that I would need a retune if I put on a bov. What about when I change the charge pipes?
