I know how you feel. but my thoughts were the car is in decent shape, it's almost paid off, I could swap an engine in it and be payment free for a few years with a car that has a newer engine in it that should last without giving me problems. that was just my situation I just went through. theres a thread on here if you want to look through it.

my complete longblock was 1700 shipped, I needed an accessory belt-15, coolant-15, oil & filter-35, flywheel bolts-50, another maybe 100 for anything im forgetting and things like spot lights (my headband headlight could possibly be the best 10 bucks ive ever spent), kitty litter (to soak up coolant), kerosene for the heater...

should just suck it up and replace the motor. Sorry, it happens but its still cheaper than just going and buying another car.

I dont think it would matter if you banned him. He wouldnt really be coming back. In fact, hes not really vested in this forum at all. As far as Im concerned, he's already the crap you pick out from between your toes to me.

I dunno. I have less of a issue with it being traded to the dealership if its got an issue. but I wouldn't do it blindly.
The guy that bought my SS thought he was buying a stock car. for the most part, it was. However...he never did ask me if it was ever modded. but the car had 0 issues.
I even found it about a year later. dude ruined it. so sad

Oh I'm not going to purposely screw someone over on a car with a junk engine. I've just been extremely pissed off over this whole ordeal. After looking over the engine more I'd say most of the members here are correct. It's a block issue, not a water pump. So much for wishful thinking. But it's nice to know there are so many internet badasses lol.
I've sent a message to mongorat as suggested to see about getting an LDk engine for replacement.

I honestly couldn't care less what anyone's opinion on here or anywhere else is of me.

I've never really had much joy with this turd. It's a very impractical car for me. I just got stuck in it financially because I'm divorced & raised 2 kids on my own. More than likely once it's back running right I'll sell it at a little less of a loss. I considered parting it out but I don't think I'd get enough out of it.

Sorry to hear you don't like your turd. A lot of us like or have liked our cars, that's why we are in here. Never considered myself a keyboard warrior, just trying to help the next guy out. I'm glad you are getting a shortblock for it and it's a shame that so many have had to. I will also at some point but I'm glad you can get them fairly cheap.

I understand your frustration. but once the engine has been replaced it should give you years of trouble free and payment free miles. throw a few boltons at it, a tune and itll be like a different car.

Update: I ended up getting a used LHU out of a 2013 Regal GS from LKQ for $750 with 21K miles. I checked it all out & it was like brand new. It took longer than I thought it would to get it swapped because around every single corner I ran into new problems. But it turned out great! I put in a new GMPP clutch after reading a ton on here. I also put in a new turbo cartridge I got from a seller on ebay for $200 shipped. The old engine must've had issues from the very beginning because from the moment I fired it up it ran better. While it was down I addressed a few other issues. The CEL had been on since I bought it reading a MAF code. I chased that down more times than I can think of & it turned out to be a bad connector so I wired a new one in. Also there was a FTP sensor off of the EVAP canister that was just dangling & tied up to some wires lol. I replaced it. For the first time since I've owned it (4 years) there's no more CEL. I also ordered 3 bar MAP sensors & a ZZP tuned PCM. Now this car runs better than it ever has.
A little advice for anyone doing this. Get the vacuum line from the donor car for the brake vacuum pump on the new engine. My brakes work sooooo much better than they ever did with this pump. My new engine came with the entire wiring harness & all vacuum/fuel lines & hoses attached. If your car is stock go with the original LNF intake because the MAP sensors are different. If it's not stock & you have the 3 bar MAP sensors, go with the LHU intake but swap over your LNF throttle body to it before you get it in the car. I got the engine in & running before I got the 3 bar sensors & PCM in the mail. I had to swap intakes with it in the car which was no big deal really, but I got that in before I realized the throttle bodies have different connectors. Also the LHU has a larger oil pan. The dipsticks are the exact same thing but the tube is different. Make sure to use that tube if you're not swapping the LNF oil pan on. I opted to leave the LHU pan on even though it holds an odd amount of slightly over 6 quarts.
I have no practical way to get this thing dyno tuned without traveling a great deal & after spending the money on this & some other car projects (teenage son) I'm flat broke. But I have to say I'm really happy with the results of the ZZP PCM on this engine. It's a monster. I get 25 PSI of boost except in 1st gear & it literally will boil the tires through 3rd gear if I'm not very careful lol.
It already had a catless full 3" exhaust when I bought it. I added the Injen charge pipe a long time ago because of a boost leak issue. It also has an aftermarket intercooler. My next mod is going to be in this order... I have the correct rear bumper cover already in black on its way. I'll be ordering the ZZP cold air through the wheel well pipe soon. And also eventually I want to put their lower charge pipe on. I'd kill to swap to the ZFR turbo but I don't see me affording it right now & I'm pretty damn happy with it as is. I'm putting new bearings & seals in the old stock turbo cartridge so I have a spare.
I actually really like the car now. It's still impractical but at least it's not a turd anymore lol. From here on I'm sticking to cosmetic & practical fixes. I've got new front wheel well liners to install as soon as the new fender insulators get here from the dealer. My car was damaged by a tornado a couple of years ago & literally it sucked the insulators from the fenders & tore the liners up. It had also broken off the driver's mirror & torn up the front facia.
