Question Clicking during gear change.

This was mentioned earlier this summer. Some one said they heard clicking under their car during gear change when you take your foot off the clutch. I have been noticing this more and more. Anyone else hearing this?

It is a loud single click, I'm thinking perhaps the tranny flexing ?

I just got my Cobalt a few days ago and noticed the same thing with the clutch. I'm not sure if it is anything to worry about though.

my uncles girlfriends son (w/e he'd be called) has a racing transmission in his '00 sunfire, it has a single click when he shifts too, but so far it hasnt had any problems, but with the cobalts being a new car it could be something wrong w/ it

That's just the carbon fiber gear rings - nothing to worry about.

I'm not really converned, I beleive it's normal. I have not had any tranny problems so I'll just try to ignore the sound, although it is annoying!

Its just the clutch switch that tells your car when the clutch is in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the clicking noise was due to the fact that the Cobalt uses a cable tranny....

When **** starts making sound on my car.. I just turn the stereo up and that seems to fix it. My cav has gone so south that I had to get 1200 watts.

Either try that.. or maybe your blinker fluid is low??

Not to kick up an old thread or anything...

But my trans is doing this more and more lately, and I have about 7100 miles on it.

Does anyone know what it really is... not just speculation?

Thanks

I get the clicking too, but it is not the nuetral safety witch. If you let off the gas it clicks and if you give gas it also clicks no clutch being applied.

Before I wrecked mine it did the same thing like you said it is about when the clutch it 1/4 pushed out so when you hit the clutch the gear changes and the clicking you here is about 3/4 on the way out of the clutch I know it clicks because that is where your clutch catches the gear signifying that you have enetered a new gear and the clutch is no longer engaged in the switch although you might still have your foot on the clutch it is no longer engaged. Absolutley nothing to worry about. Notice if you just press the clutch in with the car off it will not click

I paid extra attention to my car yesterday and noticed that it actually happens when my foot is nowhere near the clutch.

I shifted into 2nd gear, going slow, prolly around 1500 rpms... I had my foot on the gas only slightly my left foot was on NOTHING. I took my foot off of the gas and I hear: "CLICK CLICK" I put my foot back on the gas again "very lightly" "CLICK CLICK"

This sucks...

I think I need to go see the dealer.

ITS NOT YOUR NEUTRAL SAFTY SWITCH , this is in your car right behind the clutch pedle.

What?

So is it or isn't it? You didn't make any sense there...

Furthermore it IS coming from the outside... and <caps>HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CLUTCH...</caps>
