88958719 Stage 3 2006 - 07 Performance Upgrade Kit
Take your Cobalt SS to the next level with our Stage 3 Off-Road kit!
The Stage 3 kit consists of the following:
• Smaller, 76mm supercharger pulley
• 2-pass intercooler end plate
• Unique PCM which includes a calibration for the smaller pulley, an adjustable rev limiter, a 100 octane mode, and a nitrous algorithm.
Our Stage 3 kit will take your supercharged Ecotec to a whole new level of performance. Stage 3 takes horsepower output to 248 on 93 octane fuel and to 260 horsepower on 100 octane fuel.
In addition to the power increase, you'll also get an adjustable rev limiter and calibration for a 50 shot of nitrous (nitrous kit not included).
For best power, we recommend also installing a high-flow exhaust.
The PCM is equipped with a user adjustable rev limit from 6750 to 8000 rpm. The rev limit is adjusted by pressing on the throttle pedal with the ignition on and engine off. At about 50% throttle the tachometer will show the current rev limit. Pressing the throttle further will adjust the rev limit in 250 rpm increments. This PCM is also equipped with a control scheme for the equivalent of a 50-horse shot of Nitrous. The PCM will automatically provide the proper spark and fuel for A Nitrous up to 500 rpm below the current selected rev limit when the trigger is activated.

GM Stage 2 upgrade.........4 months later
I purchased my 06' SS/SC back in November of 05. In October of 06 I had the Stage 2 upgrade, a Corsa sport cat-back exhaust and the GM performance parts header installed on the car at my local Chevy Dealership. I purchased the upgrade kit through summit racing (part# Nal-17803229), the header through a GM parts website and the exhaust system direct from Corsa. My dealer did not give me a hard time about the upgrade. I was the first person who ever had one done there, but the service manager was very interested and went over the instructions with me and told me that to do everything would be about 5 hours worth of work and cost about $500.00. He also told me (now I have never checked this out, but maybe I should) that because a certified GM performance mechanic did the work at a authorized Chevrolet dealership that all the work (except for the exhaust cause it was not a GM part number) would be covered under my warranty. I noticed a instant gain in horse power (wonder why?????) and the sound was incredible from the Corsa cat-back. I also noticed more torque, I would assume cause of the header. But, despite what others have posted, I did not GAIN gas milage, rather I lost fuel economy. Now I am from Bergen county N.J which for those who dont know, is right out side of NYC, so the car is in traffic alot and does idle often, but I dont think that adding larger injectors, a cat-back exhaust, a smaller blower pully and a header is going to GAIN you fuel economy. I am very happy that I had the upgrade done and would do it again in a heart beat. I have retired quite a few SRT-4's and STI WRX's with the upgrade and have not be out-performed by many cars yet. The only advice I can give to a person that is considering having this done is to #1, go to a Chevy dealership, in the long run, your going to safe money and all of the parts and tools necessary to do the job right are there (including the computer flash). #2, make sure you talk to the SERVICE MANAGER personally and tell him/her exactly what you are having done and see how he/she responds to you ( if they blow you off, or tell you to just drop the car off and they will take care of it, GET OUT AND FIND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP). This is not an oil change, this is an engine upgrade that requires the supercharger to be removed (and anyone that says that you can do it with the supercarger on the car is full of ****, you will warp the bolts that mout the supercharger to the engine, **** up the gasket and **** up the snout, you have to take it off to do it RIGHT). Get a feeling for the person and as long as you are comfortable proceed. #3, ask the manager who will be working on your car, it should be the same person who would work on a corvette, SS Silverado, Trailblazer, Impala, etc. This should be a GM Performance certified mechanic who is trained to work on cars of this nature. #4, ask all the questions that you want to have answered, this is a pretty drastic change to your car, make sure your prepared for what else comes with having this kit installed(premium fuel requried, louder wine from the supercharger, lost gas milage, etc) but if your even considering this kit, I dont think these are real "issues" with you. And finally, GET YOUR OLD PARTS BACK!!!!!! Their your parts, take them back, you could either sell them, or if you ever wanted to remove the upgrade, you will be able to with little hasle, and you know where the parts are coming from.

It cost me 335$ at 4 hours labor time. I thought that was kind of bogus but had it done anyways as I wanted it done asap, and couldnt get ahold of the other local chevy dealer. After It was installed i drove to the other dealer and they told me they could have installed it in 2. but hey its in and im happy!
and for reference I had the stage 2 kit installed with the stage 3 pulley. I just swapped pulleys before install. Got all my parts too from crateenginedepot. Top notch service!

I went on that website and it says that i need to buy the entire kit which includes a PCM. Can i just get the pully and swap it out for the pully that comes with the stage 2 kit? Is there any other change that has to be made (computer re-flashed, shorter belt, etc.)?
