There's a problem that you won't like. The bolts that mount the starter up to the transmission are inside the bell housing.

Sorry. And have fun with that.

I thought it was stupid too, but that's the way it's secured to the block when I put my engine back together.

Not sureo n the year of your car...I would say google it? But from what he is saying, you have to get inside your transmissions belhousing to remove the necessary bolts in order to remove your starter.

My ss/sc is an 07. I don't think they would change the design in the middle of the cycle for the lsj. Look at the build book for the lsj. It'll explain where it goes with pictures so you can see for yourself.

Are you talking about the starter or the solenoid.

Now that I think about it, you're right. I was thinking about the water pump bolts that are a pain in the ass to get to.

By the way, have you gotten yours running yet?

My apologies to the OP. Is your view of the starter restricted in any way?

No mine has not got started. Waiting on reply from Maven and others.

I thought water pump was the same way. But I didnt unbolt mine, the machine shop did to sleeve it.

OP see pictures, it should help? The solenoid should not be engauged so its easy to pull out.

The pics are an excellent illustration of where the starter mounting bolts are. It doesn't matter what year you have; there are two bolts on the outside of the bell housing. I've done several and different model years.
The top bolt will require and extension using a 3/8 drive ratchet, 13 or 14MM.

September 5 2009. It was largely because of what happened the first time it was built.

Ok so I removed the "hidden" bolt that was on the passenger side of the IM(intake manifold) and the IM still is coming off. Is there a bolt at the bottom of the IM to where i need to get under the car or on the driver side that needs to come off?
