Nates 2.4 pulley

Who has done this, if anyone. Im going to a 2.5 now, i made 287 on a 2.7 and meth after 3 dyno sessions. Fig for ***** n giggles if no one else will try i will purchase both the 2.5 and 2.4 and see what it will do. Im thinkn 6,100 redline and iat's toping out at 170 tops on hard hard pull with 2.4. Regardless im going 2.5 but for an extra 55 dollers and 30 mins to play around with it on dyno seems worth it to me.

well im going to do it sooner than later, Just have to see if theres much gain from 6100 vs 6500. My car sees no track time, just pure 40 rolls and often very short burst. I dont build things for others, I build to put a smile on my face and to **** my gf off. Ill be sure to post up the result's then not answer ?'s, then mabe there will be more do'ers on here in the future.

My buddy has a 2.4 pulley, sold his ion a while ago, when I went to the 2.6 pulley, I started getting some random partial throttle kr, imo the 2.7 is the best pulley for the m62 on 93

2.4 sounds crazy. In for results.

I think an expanding pulley would be awesome. Like the clutches in CVT's. Starts out as a 2.5 and by 7000RPM (engine speed) it has expanded to a 2.8.

Lots of torque while retaining top end and a high rev limiter. I bet tuning would be a PITA though.

pulley's have been orderd. Need to order zzp tensioner bracket on monday for I doubt oversized ilder/stage2 belt and home brewd non-slip grooves are gonna be enuf to keep belt slip at bay. Should have it all done and tuned in time for O.C car n truck show/ cobalt meet. Besides I promised a 23lb trifecta tune cobalt that I see him again and will no longer be door to door lol. Oh and im on meth for anyone who's wondering how im going to get any timming out of this pulley.

It seemed that the 2.55 was about as small as most went 300+ on the M62 was done loooooooong ago.

Didnt say anything about 300hp did I? Its weird tho everything was done looooong ago with little to no cooling mods yet now with the tunning options and meth/e85 its not being done in the present. Not trying to sound rude, just get tired reading same old post over and over, will a 2.9 blow my car up!!

Why is it not being done in the present... because it's dumb. You are overspinning the blower, creating nothing but excess heat. Anything under a 2.7 you don't really pick anything up, a ft/lb or 5 of torque is about it.

I went from a 2.85-2.6 on my LSJ and the 2.7 was the most reliable of the small pullies for decent power.

And now with the TVS and other blower options, why overspin a tiny blower!!!!

I made just shy of 290 on my 2.7 setup and 292 on the 2.6 so why bother with the extra headaches.

I dont get it. Horse power is directly defined by torque and rpm. Its actually torque X RPM / 5252. You rev higher you make more power so long as your cams allow you to make power up there, which is why civcs can make 200 hp stock na, they rev to like 9 grand. I think the 2.8 pulley makes too much torque as it is and I wish I had the ability to regulate boost like you guys, well at least to make 1st gear useful for anything but burnouts.

i have beatin plenty of 2.8 pullied balts on my 3.1... im beginning to believe pulley size other then stock doesnt matter on the M62. prove me wrong other then dyno's and on paper. which is really the only way to prove it. Keep in mind these cobalts were tuned by the same guy that tunes me. so whether you have a 2.4-3.1 each motor will react differently. so really you cant say I only won because of my tune. same guy tuned the others... **** i've lost by a HALF of a bumper to a diamond piston worked n tuned 2.6 IR. I WAS REFLASHED back then.

will try post graph later, for I dont get on here much. Hot as hell today in VA Beach. 2.4 i thought I was good as far as belt slip goes lol nope at 5500 it start burning the belt from slippage. Put 2.55 on and tuned that and we were able to keep slippage at bay, barely! Final numbers 299.6whp 271.3 trq at 24* and a 3ghp 65/35 mix. Car is a 300whp easy just was way to hot out today. Blower temps hit max 160ish on 5th pull if I recall. On the way home tho ran alot cooler tho. Im happy and just wished the 2.4 didnt slip so bad, the belt I was afraid would glaze and Id have to flip it to just get by. Dyno dynamics dyno machine.

If my bag of ice didnt have 10 damn holes in it I woulda hit that mark but the tuner was freakin out with the water dripping on his machine so I had to remove it from the blower. To Blue, Mods are Injen intake,Ported blower inlet and TB, Meth, 2.55, 60's, s3 heat exchanger/just distilled water no option b no dual pass not even sure why people buyem Vibrnt Header, 2.5 dp no cat into 2.5 pipe with dynomax muffler. Thats all for power spent alot of money tho in dyno time ALOT to go from 275 to 299.6 lol Owell

speaking of small pullies, I know 2.7 is optimal for the M62. But what is the smallest optimal size for the TVS? I believe I've got a 2.8 on my TVS right now.
