Aem fuel pump

Stock pump
So my fuel pump went out on my 07 and instead of getting a new module for 200++ i figured id rebuild it using an aem 50-1000 from zzp. I got everything dropped out of the car and had a fun time getting the pump out the tank, and got the pump module disassembled i managed to squeeze the new pump in there with a lil 2 stroke on the pump and lightly tapping the bottom of the cage til it was flush. It doesnt click in the cage but as tight as its in there its not goin anywhere. Not even a need for rewire the stock plug fits perfect.
Now comes the problem, my stock pump had another line coming off it and im 90% sure its a venturi to keep the pump full but id like confirmation before i get this bitch all the way in the car and it run shitty. More pics latr...

Are you talking the orange hose? That looks like the pump that came out of my base model. Wonder if its been replaced before with one from a base.

What does the small line on your original fuel pump connect to on the other end? Is it that thing in your canister shown in the last picture? Can you take more pictures of the thing it connects to or inspect it closer to try and figure out it's function? You should have pressure regulator somewhere that ties into the main output from the fuel pump and dumps back into the canister. Do you see that anywhere?

I've never seen a pump with a second output like that and the only thing I can think is it may possibly be pressure regulated internally and that is the bypass output. If that is the case you won't be able to use the AEM replacement pump without rigging up some sort of external regulator. If you find an external regulator with a bypass that dumps back into the canister you can probably ignore that small hose.

I talked to ryan at zzp about it, we were thinkn it was a return line, honestly i just left it disconnected without the hose and put it in.
I got it in and it seems to be running great honestly, no chugging or anything i can notice.
I havent gotten a pressure reading at the rail but feels good

AEM pumps have a built in pressure relief valve which activates at 80 psi according to AEM. If there is no other regulator you would have at least 80 psi line pressure. If it was over-pressuring like that you would notice it most when you have higher injector pulse width like when going WOT. If there was a pressure regulator it would have been easy to identify because one side would be Tee'd into the line coming out of the pump and the bypass port or hose should dump back into the canister.

ended up just leaving it off it runs fine still just cant wide open when its low on gas round 1/8 tank. id invest in the plastic fuel hose i ended up droppin my tank because my rubber one blew out. make sure the lines straight and short as can be when the assemblys compressed if you do use rubber fuel hose.

I cut the orange plastic tube off the sender because there was no where to connect it on the new aem pump. Is this similar to what you did?

thats exactly what i did. like i said just make sure that the rubber fuel line to the top the pump assembly is shorter than that. the line has to be as straight as possible, otherwise the pressure from the pump cuts through the line in about a week
