Stage 2 belt or zzp adj tensioner for 2.85 and smaller pulleys?

Hey guys,
i've done the search and i get mixed results. Some guys swear by the stage 2 belt for 2.8 and smaller, whereas guys with the adj tensioner say they can use the stock belt from 3.0 all the way down to 2.6.

Now, i'm going to be running a 2.85 w/ gm stage 2 (didn't buy kit so no belt), but i did pick up a zzp tensioner. So can i use it w/ stock belt? or do will it not work and slip? Yes, i plan to go right down to 2.6 by the end of the summer. So need to figure this up out, b/c up here in canada, the stock stage 2 belt goes for 75 at the dealership. Either way, they say there are none available in canada.

Thanks for the help.
Nate

Its really hit or miss I think. I needed both for my 2.6" pulley, but just the belt for the 2.8".

I have a 2.85 on my stage II with no problems of having to change anything. It may vary from car to car though.

i'm running a 2.7", stock belt, and adjustable tensioner and maxed out at idle im getting noise. The second I step on the car it goes away but at idle and when I let off the throttle I can hear it. I've got a stage 2 belt on the way in hopes that it solves the issue because it seriously annoys the hell outta me
