True long tube race header

I could fab in this new long tube header with mild chassis tube relocation. Currently running a 14" Cobalt header into a a 90 and minimal racing muffler. Would it be worth the swap for the extra length or are gains minimal on an S/C engine?

there is (or at least was) a true long tube available for the cobalts, but i dont think there was much gain over a mid length on an lsj. it was also quite expensive iirc, so not really worth the extra money.

that header isnt really ideal for an lsj. the lsj will work better with a 1 3/4" primary tube and a 3" outlet. that header would more lend itself to a 2.2l or 2.4l n/a build.

Good catch. My header bigger and 3" all the way thru the muff. My primary tubes are 13 to 14" long. Would that be what the vendors on here call a mid or a long?

yea thats pretty much a midlength header. in fact that looks like it could have been something like a pace setter header that was cut off and had the 90* elbow put on. you wouldnt see any sizeable gains with a different header.

I agree that a stock or stock modified piece is best. Developing an exhaust system is time consuming and expensive. Research Larry Meaux, developer of Max race software. Anything you can find written by him on exhaust is a good read. He is also a very nice guy, but won't touch four cylinder cars or bikes.
