GM performance time attak cobalt was fitted with 17x9 rims running on grandam hubs for strength. so why not. they ran 245/45R17/ that is 10" wide and same diameter as stock wheel. only factor is back spacing. I plan on measuring with stock wheels for clearence to see if it is even possible with stock wheels and back spacing. then articulate the suspension to try and remeasure and estimate (yeah estimate is never good but I have done it with 4x4's and it worked well) distance the wheel will travel up (measure distance between shock body and bump stop) and determine if the wider wheel will hit. 235/40 is known to work. I am guessing that a 245/35 would work as well. I have yet to check into it.

Well the update is that I have taken SEMA off of my calender, as well as any real date for my project to wrap. I am extremely pissed off at how everything is not going smoothly.
I don't care about this being a "first/unique/piece of art" project. I have had enough of this project consuming my thoughts for way tooooo long. SEMA was supposed to mean there was an actual end date for my pain to stop. I think 17 months is more than enough to wonder "when do I get my car back" End of rant.

As far as actual updates I have heard (this time I believe) that the floor has been cut and there are parts on the way for the conversion which include:

following parts have been ordered

Mandrel bent rear frame rails with brackets made for 4 link
Mandrel bent crossmember
Driveshaft safety loop
Wishbone track locator
Pro Chrome Moly Anti Roll
Battery mount kit
Strange Pro-Bar 4 link Package with AM rod ends
Strange Adjustable Coilovers
9" housing with filler, drain and rear brace
Aluminums 3rd member
31 spline Posi unit with bearings and ring and pinion (yet to be determined - will ask J Body what gear they recommend)
Strange Pro Street Axle package
Disk brakes from Willwood
Strange Master cylinder
Chrome Moly Tubing for 10 point cage
Steel wheel tubs
Aluminium for the rear floor.

The above items have been ordered from various places and some have a delivery lead time of 4 weeks.

Besides those, parts these parts are now at JBP

JBP Billet Cams

My crankshaft is supposed to be ready for shipping this coming week.
I am also supposed to be heading to Toronto this week for a visit and tour of the new shops on the project. I am still not sure about going. I am soured somewhat at the progress vs the expense of the trip. There are positives of going like being able to fire some shop in person. The negative, obvioulsy, is being disappointed at the state of the project. Oh well I have a few days to decide.

I know it will be, the trick is the waiting and the frustartion of the delays. It is at least 5 months away still.

Victory this is just plain bad bad news. JBP better get their act together on this. Lots of people are watching and anticipating. Especially if this project ends in being a dud, I guarantee it cant be good for their business. I am really questioning there abilities now. seems to be abit more than they can chew. A trip might do you good, may help them in getting a vision that "Hey it has been long enough, what do we have to do to get 'er done?"

Steak is frozen in the freezer now. I wont be waiting for you to pass through the province to visit for that steak and beer I promised untill you say the car is done and I am on my way to pick the car up. I will not be saving my holiday time anymore either for a wicked road trip.

JBP if your reading this please please get this car done!!!

I know it sucks and I am so looking forward to the steaks.
The wife had also saved her holiday time for SEMA, now we will plan something else.
I just want everyone to know that this latest delay is not JBP nor is it in JBP's control.
I am not into bashing anyone who hasn't come through for me but I am also not wanting JBP's guys getting blamed for what they didn't do.
ssnipes I know you mean well and I never clearly stated who was holding things up.
I can say that JBP is very aware of everyone watching and JBP is also creating some more products that the serious modder's will really like.

That's what it is, I can't see my Big Ass Wing.
When I visit the car this Friday, I better make sure they aren't using the spoiler for a lunch bench.
