Well there is another false claim. SMG Motoring is building a sleeved GM race block with everything this week. Just because you post about the most doesn't mean your the only ones trying new things and building fast cars.

while ZZP isnt the only one developing race ecotecs, i think they have contributed the most to our engines..more so than SMG (and dont get me wrong, i love SMG). But ZZP makes a LOT of products, many of which are unique for this platform (though not in the car world).

We receive calls and emails every day of people 'building' motors. I do not consider ordering sleeves, pistons, rods and putting it together 'building a race motor'. Anyone can do that (some better than others) and people are all over the country. I'm referring to things such as our stroker motor or going custom things that others are not doing. People following ZZP know what I'm talking about.
I did not mean to imply that no one is putting together ecotec motors, clearly they are. I just meant ZZP is doing things they are not and we're on the forefront of product development for this platform. In terms of building fast cars, the times people have run using our parts speak for themselves and I haven't seen anyone do anything close. Maybe I missed it??

Asking how much power is a simple question with an extremely complex answer. It's like asking how much HP 5# of boost gives. Too many variables. Similarly the neutral shafts mainly give power because you can spin the motor to higher rpm.

But adding these solid shafts others are selling that weigh almost 5# each means you have to spin ~9 pounds to 16,000+ rpm which requires a decent amount of HP. The ZZP shafts are 1.75# each. Better yet would be removing them altogether but that requires the electric water pump kit which we haven't released yet. We are working on it though and it's working great in the test cars.

Unfortunately those watching ZZP know, we can take a long time to develop, test and release products. Sometimes years. We're working on ways to speed this up but past failures have taught us that slower is sometimes better.
Here is the weight of our shaft.....not 5lbs each like you were saying.

I have GM shafts from a couple months ago and gm shafts from 2 years ago, they are both identical and weigh .05lbs more than ours. I just weighed another gm shaft, it's the same weight as ours.

How funny would it have been if Sean had the scale on the wrong setting, though.

Anywho...carry on!

Bringing this thread back from the dead I traded in my 06

I would try emailing zzp and ask them if they have a write up on it, or just bring it to a performance shop and ask them

If they've every done something like this, it would'nt hurt

Why is this obviously important that they are heat treated and is ever been discovered whether they are or not?

Perhaps someone other can explain? Are there any issues with the NBS over the years because they are perhaps not heat treated ?
