Question Cold air intake or exaust first ?

I would like to put a cold air intake on my car, its a 2.2 automatic sedan. I heard if you put a cold air intake on without a aftermarket exaust you will loose power and gas mileage. Is this true?

On the other hand what is a good cold air intake, header and exaust set up for my car. I'm pretty new at this but im trying to start modding my car so i enjoy it more. Thanks

Best guess from me is that an exhaust would be better for engine performance without a CAI. Not so much the other way around. But it will still give you SOME performance gain.

On the other hand, and $250 bolt on CAI is cheaper and easier than a $600 exhaust that requires you cut the old muffler off.

I would get the exhaust first. Thats what I did. Gains were noticeable.

IMO intakes saves gas milage.

Reason why you may see a decrease is you like to hear the "sound" of the intake, making the car accelarate faster...

Injen is by far the best intake out for the 2.2L We carry Polished and Black colors in stock at all times.

I agree that intakes improve mileage. They also increase HP. See the link in my sig to the dyno numbers for my GMPP intake and scoop. My car has a stock exhaust at this time.

The Injen should provide about the same percentage increase since it isn't forced to breathe through the stock air box inlet.
