"very rare" hmmm..
i would wait for a reputable name like B&M to make one, or even go with the new TWM one, but your asking if it works, hmm imo----i wouldnt buy it b/c its not for a cobalt, but my patients for aftermarget are getting thinner, just like everyone elses lol
btw i wanted to reply and say your new sig looks cool nice photoshop
i like the blacked-out headlight look, i bet your car will look good in the future.

I know for a fact it works in the ION's. Someone decided to try it out and actually wrote up installation instructions for it so the guy could ship them with the shifter.

thx about the sig, hopefully it will look somewhat like that within the next like 2 months, but anyways yea the seller offered to sell me the shifter for a good deal to see if it would fit my car if not i just send it back for a refund, and if i wrote an install guide for it they would knock off another 60, but i would install it myself so that wont happen, but it was stilla good deal for the shifter i thought theions were almost the exact same car.

A little searching would yield some impressive results...

...and yes that was me that installed it. This shifter will work fine with the cobalt. Mine came with the reverse lockout which is clearly not needed for ION's. It is needed, however on the old j-bodies and new cobalts. It's the same tranny and shifter assembly in the J's, IONs, and cobalts, but only difference is that the cobalt's and J's have that dumb reverse lockout and the IONs don't.
Oh, and that guy is trustworthy in the fact that when he asked me to write up the install instructions, he did refund me 60 U.S. upon his email receipt of the instructions.

1sb cobalt ls's don't have the reverse lockout on them... just throwing that out there. I don't know if that means you can put one without a lockout on a base or not. The lockout is also kinda silly, you can't possibly put a manual tranny car into reverse while you're moving forward at any significant speed anyways.
