Supercharged 2009 G5
#53
Next week I will be installing a dual pass, 2.9 pulley, 60 lb injectors, and a phelonic spacer. Trifecta did not reply when i asked them a few weeks ago about a retune for the mods, so i decided to tune it myself with HP Tuners. Not much info out on how to tune for this car but once i got into it it was not that different from other gm cars and trucks. Currently my car is on an hpt file i created and it actually feels better than the trifecta tune that they had said was all they could do.
and Supercharged G5s are life 😂😂

So i installed a 2.9 pulley, 60lb injectors, and dual pass this past weekend. I could not for the life of me get the stage 2 belt on my car. Put in the stock belt and it worked fine part throttle and half throttle. Yesterday i went full throttle and after shifting to second the car started loosing boost and sputtering. Today i cant even go half throttle or it starts going crazy. Boost goes up and down rapidly and sometimes ill get a misfire. Could this be belt slip? I have never experienced it before so im wondering how can i tell what it is?

I've used a regular old ratchet strap to compress the tensioner and it worked well. I'm sure there are other strategies that work better it is just what I had and I assume fairly common for most people to have. If you want pictures or more information I can get it to you.

it wasnt working, i figured out that i had to grind down my alternator because the tensioner would not go any further down to get the belt on.
got it on but it was so tight my tensioner cracked and came apart. Also my conpressor sounded like it was dying because it was too tight. I had a replacement but after installing it i pushed the tensioner down and it snapped at the top bolt. Didnt even get to put the belt on. So now the car is parked and wont be using it until i can find a tensioner 😧
ill post pics of the damaged tensioner
Btw i actually have never heard of a ratchet strap lol

It sounds like something isn't right. Like your belt is too tight. You had to grind down your alternator? What alternator are you using? I have never heard of that needing to be done. What part actually came into contact with the alternator?

Ratchet strap, tie down strap whatever they are called that you use for securing cargo. Thought they were fairly common.

The part touching the alternator is where the tensioner pulley bolts onto. I had to grind it down when i first installed my supercharger. I noticed my alternator is flat up front, not like the lsj and l61 alternator that is sorta tapered and the tesioner doesnt hit it. I can take some pics of the part if you like

Decided to post a status update on the car.
got the new tensioner back in early march, unstalled and worked. Back in may i believe it was, my supercharger seized up and and left me stranded miles frome home. Went and picked it up, removed the blower and took it apart. Some how a washer inside the blower caused it to seize up. It was a new washer that had not been used. And i had not used any washers the time i was working on the car. No idea how it got in there, or how it took so long to get crushed like it did.
after buying a new supercharger and installing my zzp hub and pulley on it the car was alive again. But now it was leaking transmission fluid, and i could not find the replacement fitting so i bought an oil cooler and it keeps my trans temps around 150F compared to stock where i was getting it at 190F. After some retuning to accomedate for lower trans temps and more boost the car is running great. Unfortunately i cannot post pics because photobucket wants me to pay them. But will be going to the race track to run and hopefully make some good times.
P.S. I removed my dual exhaust and added a magnaflow muffler and resonator and car is quiet until i get on it. I can now hear my supercharger

its too hot during the day and besides traffic there are cops everywhere where the streets are long enough. There is police on the highway too lol it sucks. I got to do some today and got my fueling done, got some knock but i think it was bad gas because i never had a problem with knock, specially while just cruising.

Could be too much timing. We can't run a lot without e85. I was only able to run 10* on 93. Now 22.5* on e85. And it's like 90+ here and I still do pulls and take it to the track lol

on the 2.7 pulley? I have been running 13* to 14* midrange and above 4k i taper it down to 11 by 6.4k and on the 2.9 been running like that without knock for a few months already. Then i fueled up last night and got knock 1-2* in crusing areas and a bit wot but nothing more. Even yesterday during the day i got no knock and it was around 90* out. So im suspecting bad gas

e85 is tempting but i need to get a fuel pump and im scared my lil ol engine cant take it. I also dont have a s3 heat exchanger which im wanting to get. That will help alot. I beat a raliart turbo last night then the second run. He got me because my supercharger gets hot and loses power.. and i sorta forgot to shift up to 3rd and reved out like 3 seconds in second haha.
