Help Car shifting hard

When driving occasionally the car will jolt, the tachometer will lock at 0 Roms, and the car will shift very hard. If I stop the car and try to start again the car will stuggle to start and the same issue will arise. However, if u let the car sit for 20 min or more the issue will to away. I have had this happen 5 times in the past 3 months. Any idea what it is? I have a 2006 cobalt SS 2.4 automatic.

Try cleaning your maf or replacing it with a new one. Not sure if its the same with a cobalt but some cars determine shift points through the maf.
