Slowbalt2000's s257 Stock Engine LE5 Build

Decided I would make a new build thread for my LE5 adventures. I also decided that k04s were gay and I wanted all the powers, so I got a nice brand new big turbo setup since I was tired of buying used ****. Since im in college, the only way I could afford it was to buy a Saturn Ion with a blown trans, swap the trans, and flip the car. It actually ended up turning out pretty well.

A lot of you know that my car is pretty low on custom BC racing coil overs, so before I started making stupid power, I needed a solution to my axle bind issues. That involved me slaving away at recreating 3/4 of the engine mounts, resulting in an engime that sat over 1 inch higher than stock. Wah-lah, no more axle issues. Here are some pictures of that.

Turns out the OTTP downpipe I bought was warped at the flange so I had to fix it myself.. Frustrating to buy new parts that are bad.

Here is the final product. Car has a wally 450 and 60s, currently tuned on 93 at 12psi. She pulls pretty damn hard compared to the K04. I will be turning it up very soon to reach the 400whp mark on stock internals.

Dude, this setup is awesome. Those mounts look good and stout and it looks like you've got some great machining skills too. And access to some money tools. Super jealous. Nice work!!

Slowbalt2000, excuse me if this is a dumb question but what happened to your engine? It obviously looks like water or fluid got in there somehow and hydro-locked. I'm just trying to figure out what that regulator/flow control unit is and how you got water in your intake manifold. What went wrong?

Thats the boost controller. The line fell off because i forgot to put a zip tie on it. Boost spiked hard because of that im assuming and cracked the block. Coolant in the intake manifold mustve gotten there through the intake valves when the water was rushing into the cylinders.

You can tell that the rod is slightly bent. I bought molnar rods but they dont fit stock pistons. Ill probably end up rebuilding it again this year.
