I only ever got my turbo cobalt because I didn't want a gutless car, didn't know it was actually REALLY fast..

I like the idea of diesels personally

I could see myself getting into one of these. I would spend almost no money in gas and maintenance considering what i drive these days.

With gas prices and the bad economy, GM is doing the right thing by going economical with their newer models. I really hope the diesel gets here because this will save people a lot of money in fuel costs.

Just depends how many people are willing to pay more upfront to save long term. People that like to trade cars every 2 or 3 years might never save enough in gas to make up for the higher price of the car. For people that drive it til it dies its going to save them thousands.

I've driven my dad's VW. Drives like most other econo cars but he gets about 45 mpg on the highway. Cant beat the mileage and drives no different than any other econo car.

You want to take 2 expensive options and combine them into something even more expensive?

hybrids cost more than gas and diesel engines. diesels also cost more than gas engines. do the math.

I understand everyone is looking at the "performance" of this, But understand its for the MPG's not HP rating.

TDI's have incredible fuel economy. I see this being a big step for chevy.

That's what I thought. Seems a long ways out to announce something like this.

Its not like they had to develop a new engine for it. I'm pretty sure they will use one of the two engines from its European counterpart.

now my question is.... are they going to screw everyone by requiring the "pig ****"/exhaust fluid emissions as well? now that could potentially be another rather large cost.

Wouldn't be surprised. Because of places like Cali its the only way to get most of them to pass emissions.

Officially Official: Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Confirmed | GM Authority

After months of rumors, unofficial confirmations and a dash of speculation, Chevrolet has gone on announced an early confirmation of the Cruze Diesel for North America. The car is expected to beat the gas-powered Cruze Eco in fuel economy — some even say as high as 50 MPG on the highway — but the official numbers are far from being disclosed.

Currently, the Holden Cruze in Australia cradles a 2.0-liter diesel good for 160 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

The bummer is that it will not launch until calender year 2013. Hopefully a Cruze Hatch and Coupe aren’t far off…

diesels are legit. i bought my wife the 2010 jetta tdi. i believe it was rated at 42mpg. i easily get 55mpg. the low end torque is pretty damn beast in these engines. i would def pick up a diesel car due to the solid power and diesel engine longevity.

thats cool, diesel stuff is sweet for fuel economy and easy power. really the limiting factor of a diesel will be the engines mechanical limits, meaning how much boost itll take. easy to tune really, crank up the boost as high as itll go and add fuel till your egt is in the sweet spot. want more power, add a bigger turbo, crank it up as high as itll go, then add more fuel.

Quick Reply: 2.0L turbo diesel engine may come the the U.S.
