Buick Verano
Just read that the Buick Verano which is based on the cruze platform, debuts in late 2011 as a 2012 model will have a 2.4L producing 177 hp! It also said that the 2.0L turbo will be offered at a later date. This is good news hopefully we will see the same powertrain in a Cruze ss?

+1. According to wikipedia, the verano is based on the delta ii platform and comes equipped with the 177hp 2.4L engine (the Le5 perhaps?). What pisses me off is that GM kills the cobalt, guts the engine and calls it a cruze. Why not simply put the damn LE5 and/or offer the LNF as an option.
I do give buick props though--I never would have looked to them but I'm really liking the lucerne and if the verano isn't butt-ugly I may give them a shot before I jump-ship to the japs.

I'm with thedude... going to be a nice car if the price is right. Ugly? Yep... but ugly sells... look at Mazda3's and Corolla - the best sellers in Canada

I actually like the looks of the new buick and its gonna have the lnf in it prolly with a 6speed stick from what i saw in videos from the detroit auto show. The interior is gonna be alot nicer than the cruze. I do like the front of the car more than the rear of it but it has dual exhaust stock, and projectors with hids as an option i would think.

I'd buy it. I think they are using a new version of the LE5 called the LEA its a E85 compatible engine similar to the LE9 but has a higher compression ratio. Sorry if its a little confusing.
The turbo version said to come later will use the same engine as the Regal GS. Which from what I have read is a beefed up version of the engine used in the Regal CXL turbo.
How much of this is true or not IDK but Wikipedia is my best friend
