Cruze Eco

Cruze Eco
Anyone have one? My roommates are looking to sell their hyundia accent and vw rabbit. Their must have is 40mpg+ and manual. The only shitty thing about the cruze is no heated seats and rear brakes are drums. The fiesta, which is sub level of the cruze, he didnt like the interior and it felt smaller. He wants to see the focus SFE but its only automatic So it will probably be the cruze eco. I'm not fully against it..but it sucks the cruze eco is the only high eco car with a manual but it doesnt have good options for creature comforts.. Forum posts from people get like 44mpg pretty easy and some up near 50. But I'd be interested to see what a winter blend of gas does to it.

My friend got one since march, the Eco with optional sound system and blutooth etc...
Its nice, i cant say how bad it is to have drums for rear brake, but he love it so far and in city its now at like 8l/100km average, mileage is getting better and better though, he just have 2800km on it... he rarely get on it too, im sure its a lot better on highway and it will improve over the summer.
Im not that impressed for city fuel economy, but on highway its nice. Id say its on par with a toyota Yaris for city, but has better economy on highway...

I seriously can't tell the difference between a car that has disc or drum breaks, also I thought like %80 of the breaking is done in the front anyhow.

Besides the Cruze fixed a lot of the complaints about the Cobalt. It had a a crappy interior and some rattles. People that buy these cars don't care about power, handling, or super brakes.

the biggest thing for daily normal people and rear brakes is ease of replacement. drums can be a bitch. The rear brakes dont do much at all, they brake some and ebrake but not nearly as hard as the front.
On another cruze forum, theres guys getting 28-32mpg city and 40-50 hwy. Soo sounds better than pretty much any other car haha. the focus SFE is the most near competition but its 6sp auto :/

So far it seem pretty efficient, and so quiet!....
I thought it would have more torque feel than that but its not too bad... especially when you know a tune would bring it to life.
It doesnt feel that much quicker than the 1.8 N/A version wich is what bothered me the most test driving both... but its a lot more quieter and smoother.

Cruze Eco is a good car. I want one as a DD honestly. drum brakes are perfectly fine. They are actually quite easy to service to, GM mainly only uses their new style advanced leading-trailing design anymore, and its only got one spring to hold the shoes, cake to service and last almost forever. ECO is actually the most fun Cruze to drive.

The best thing about the Eco is that minus the drum brakes and low rolling resistance tires, it is a sort of performance version (for now). Its the only one with the 1.4T plus a manual and it is nearly 150 pounds lighter than the rest of the lineup.
They are great cars. It would be so easy to get 50mpg and up.

I haven't driven any new cruze so I'll have to see. What I want to see is someone put, light weight racing rims, CF hood/trunk, tune, intake exhaust and see what mpg they can squeeze out of it.

I find it kind of genius marketing, but gear 6, which is a normal gear just geared for cruising. Is a green circle around a 6 for eco driving haha. I mean, its a eco car ya, I just find it amusing. Not like my MS3's 6th gear said anything cool
I just bought a tuner for my I4 escape, put the economy tune on last night and a full tank of gas. I'm excited to see how much better I get. I like having 2 cars, 1 can be eco one can be the retarded gas guzzler. I told my roommie he can drive my SS to see what the gear box may feel like hahha. Cant wait to see his face when he floors it, then has to drive his cruze eco :-p

Since the EPA ratings (which are now stricter than they've ever been) say 42mpg, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we see 50mpg+ once some serious hypermilers get ahold of one

well like I said, with lighter parts/wheels and a tune, some body mods ya I see it. But I've only seen 1 person say they got 50 on the DIC. I'll have to look more on the forum, but ya I don't see why 50 is unreachable. But who the hell wants to drive that slow...

Well I found them a decent price in the cities for $19,4xx on a "loaded" manual cruze eco. MSRP is 20,025 or so. That is the price at a non negotiating dealer. The dealer up here in Duluth though is freaking lame, I dont think they negotiate off msrp but we shall see. I am hoping they get the tint coat red with the two tone red/black interior

the cruze eco is definately a fun car to drive, no word of a lie the gearbox is nice and smooth. Not too sure what kind of mark up they have in the US but up here they only have about $1,500 mark up in them and if the dealers are pushing them as hard there as they are here you should be able to get one for about $300-$400 over cost.

Polar chevy/mazda in the twin cities, MN has the car for $19,4xx USD
So cheaper than MSRP with out negotiations, not too bad.
eh if they get the 2 tone interior it will be a hell of a hard process to find matching seats.... covers would be easier or a blanket.
