I don't recall anyone saying it was coming to North America ..... or that it was breaking news. ? I only posted it because after looking threw the Cruze section .... I noticed it hadn't been mentioned.

I would buy this. I am trading in the G5 for a mazdaspeed 3 when i get back from deployment. if this had a engine like the SS/TC, i would change my mind and get this. the interior of the now cruze is nice, sure this would be similar.
this will compete with the mazdaspeed 3, sti, and evo class if its built nice. cross fingers
just googled it and came out to view in paris like upper post said. only in europe. but with a few modifications, cant see why someone cant bring it over here.

Here is an article from 2 weeks ago saying the Hatch has remained largely unchanged from it's concept to the final production shape ...... so maybe there is hope that the the production hatch will look like the concept . Here is a picture from an article dated 1-10-11... it's hard to be sure but it doesn't look like any huge changes were made .
Chev Cruze hatch leaked

.
Like its sedan sibling, Cruze hatchback has a coupe-like rear roofline.

These leaked patent filings show us the final form that the yet-to-be-revealed Chevrolet Cruze hatchback will take when it hits global markets next year.
The five-door Cruze has already made an appearance in concept car form at the recent Paris Motor Show and these leaked pictures show that not much has changed in the car's overall form.
In fact, the hatchback's shape remains identical to that of the concept although the front bumper is a bit less radical and virtually identical to that of Cruze sedan. Expect the same principles to apply to the headlights and taillights.
When the concept car was unveiled, Chevrolet promised that the production version would bring new levels of value against some of the more established competition - needless to say that it should be somewhat cheaper than the VW Golf.
Chevrolet also reckons that with its attractive sweeping coupe roofline and short overhangs at both the front and rear, the new Cruze hatchback will have the same dynamic 'stance' as the saloon and will be instantly recognizable.
What's more, cargo capacity for the Cruze hatchback is close to 400 litres and it will feature 60/40 split rear seating.

Rear end styling not likely to be its strongest point though.
.
The Cruze recently surpassed the Aveo as Chevrolet's top selling passenger car nameplate globally, and with hatchbacks representing up to 65% of the compact car pie in major markets like Europe, the Cruze hatch is a very logical step for the brand.
Expect the five-door to be almost mechanically identical to its sedan counterpart, with 1.6- and 2-litre petrol engines and a 2-litre turbodiesel on offer, and hopefully the 1.4-litre turbo petrol found in the American version will also be on the cards when it inevitably reaches local shores.

Still waiting for a coupe, of course. I cannot believe that they wouldn't offer a coupe at some point. I fear that they are trying to distance themselves as much as possible from the Cavy and Cobalt, and go in the direction of something like the Corolla, or Mazda3 for that matter... which is a sedan and hatch only.

The Sonic is an Aveo with a Cruze-ish look inside and out, essentially.
In the new Motor Trend, it said something about a possible Cruze SS with the 2.0T. But I'll believe it when I see it. If so, however, that'd be crazy sick.
