Cruze rear suspension on a Cobalt

Didn't see it on the threads, so I figured I'd ask the question. Do you think the rear independent suspension will fit on a 05-10 cobalt? I'd love to try it.

I saw one at a car show in Rochester the other day and scoped it out. I like the grill and inside is nice, but what I really want to do is take my 05 and upgrade the rear axle/suspension. It makes sense if GM would use existing parts for the Cruze and all the new innovations would just be bolt-ons to an existing GM part. Or maybe that's just me dreaming I don't know. Bottom line is I like my '05 and all the things I've done to it and plan to do, and I was hoping this particular upgrade was possible, within a certain amount of reason.

It would be A LOT of work. We don't have rear strut towers. Where would you bolt your LCA's to? Anything is possible, just somethings aren't feasible.

If you have to ask... no. The Cobalt and Cruze are on two different platforms, and none of the parts are directly swappable.

The Delta platforms are nearly identical in hard points and the Cruze still has a "semi-independent" rear suspension. That means the twist beam axle is still there but they added a Watts linkage for better tuning and lateral control abilities. Apparently the new Eco trim level is supposed to ship without the Watts linkage just like the platform mate Volt. I was kind-of looking at this on the Cruze the other day and without side-to-side comparison looks like it would be possible but might need attachment bracket/reinforcing material welded in. The question then becomes if it is worthwhile.
