My new 2012 Cruze
#101
And to just rub a bit more salt in the wound, a LNF with 300whp is making 150whp/L. This little turd making the same power/L is only gonna make 210whp.............quite sad. A K20 SI with Flash pro would stomp one with this power level quite easily. It's getting close to the curb weight of my wife's 2010 Sonata V6!! To put it into perspective, check out this info.....

"With gas prices heading towards the stratosphere once again, we kept a close watch on fuel economy during our test loop. Through our miles of freeway cruising, negotiating commuter traffic, and canyon carving, the Focus achieved 28.68 mpg while the Cruze came in with 22.96 mpg. While we drove these cars harder than the average consumer would (and subsequently achieved relatively low figures), there does appear to be a clear-cut difference in efficiency. While the Focus outperforms the Cruze slightly in EPA ratings too (27/37 city highway mpg versus 24/36), we weren't expecting the spread between the two to be quite so wide given each car was driven in the same conditions, on the same roads, and by the same drivers. Advantage: Ford."

Yeah I know, it just goes back to GM having the capability to make a truly great car and flushing it down the toilet without so much as a raised eyebrow. You CAN have performance and efficiency. My 2.2L gets over 32mpg @ 75mph and I love driving it.....sure it has a couple of rattles (seat belt trim) but it's a hell of a lot faster than the OP's turbo'd and tuned Cruz....and I've spent less than $500 on my upgrades and run a 15.4 trapping 92.76.....traction is my enemy in a big way, but that's ok. The Cruze will just "cruise" right on by me as far as I'm concerned until they make one that can get out of it's own way.

Most people don't care about performance as long as it gets up to speed on the highway without getting them run over. They wanted a better interior and ride so GM gave it to them and sales went up. The Cruze is a more competitive car than the Cobalt and J-bodies ever were.

A good friend of mine bought damn near the same car and tried to race my little bolt-on 2.2L......it wasn't very pretty for him to say the least. I don't like the new "ecotec" 1.4L engine. It looks like one of those Daewoo engines and we all know how those turned out. Look at how small the engine is.....it's basically a ZX14 engine, except the Kawasaki has 170+whp. It just pisses me of GM has the capability to make a truly great car, but instead, they settle for normal, everyday mediocrity. I will be looking at a Focus ST since Ford knows what people really want, a well built, non-boring compact car that's fun to drive and is a good platform for modding. I mean really? They have the SIDI T 2.0L in the Buick GS and that thing is ridiculously priced........30k for a 4cyl car, no thanks. They could have just as easily dropped same said powerplant or just carried over the LNF into the Cruze as the RS trim. Sorry but tiny engine in an even heavier car = teh lose IMO. I will admit that they do look much improved over the Cobalt's for sure, inside and out. I still can't see myself spending that kind of coin for that slow of a car......just me though. On a side note, your car is looking very sharp with the mods already done and will look even better with those future mods coming.

I never pay sticker for a car/truck. But yeah, if it's that pricey, then Coyote 5.0L here I come. Couple guys I know are getting over 30mpg hwy in those......very nice for a modern performance car to be sporting 450+bhp and able to get those mpg numbers in a car as heavy as they are.
