Vince buys a Cruze LTZ
OK, so I broke down and bought one. Lol. Dark Granite Metallic with black interior. 1.4L turbo with 6sp automatic.
It's a nice car, I'm really impressed. It came with 18" wheels, low profile tires, 4 wheel disc. It's a really nice handling car.
The drivability is terrible, though! When you jump on the gas, it feels like it's being held back, but, finally once you get going, it pulls pretty decently. It definitely feels like it needs some work in the tune (both engine and transmission).
In fact, within days of the Cruze being released, GM released an update for both the engine and transmission so the first thing I'm going to do is see if my car has the update.
It is clear to me this engine was designed for economy over performance - it runs on 87 octane fuel, it runs hotter than most engines to improve economy. All of these things are power-killing.
Over the next month, we'll be doing extensive tuning on ours - I'll be sure to keep everybody up to date and what we're able to achieve!

Well, just got done doing some logging. There's most definitely room for improvement.
Here's some numbers from the stock tune:
Commanded AFR @ WOT (PE Mode): 10.3:1
Commanded Ignition Advance: 8*
Sustained boost: 15-16psi
Wastegate %: 74% of maximum potential
Engine Coolant Temp: 221*F
Here's some numbers from the stock tune:
Commanded AFR @ WOT (PE Mode): 10.3:1
Commanded Ignition Advance: 8*
Sustained boost: 15-16psi
Wastegate %: 74% of maximum potential
Engine Coolant Temp: 221*F

its probably a k03 varient a 1.4l might add too much lag for GM's liking.
From what I read there is no flange the manifold and turbo are built together like in one piece to save in weight or something.
Interesting I wonder how much leaner you can run it and how much more timing/boost with 9.5cr and no direct injection. This engine seems like a prefect canidate for meth

It's easy to think it should haul a$$ just because it has a turbo. GM's goal was clearly economy out of the gate, but I do believe there's lots of potential

The transmission tune was already out of date on my car - I updated to the latest TCM tune and it runs a LOT better. Still pretty laggy though.

F/I = forced induction, im pretty sure is where he was going with this. But, i can see you thinking he meant fuel injected....
