We have the RS, where's the SS?
I'm not sure if many have been keeping up to date with the current Cruze on
Motortrend, or at the New York Autoshow this week, but the release of the Cruze RS and Eco package have many curious as to when or if we will ever see a Cruze SS. As a fan of the Cobalt SS, and the muscular appearance of the two cars, a Cruze SS would be a dream come true haha. So I stumbled upon this picture.
This is not the Cruze SS that GM would sell, but notable is the body kit and low ride appearance (+ rims). This version of the Cruze is sold in Singapore as an SS package. It costs $3500 and includes only an appearance package and a low suspension, the engine is the same. I assume that foreign countries who already have the Cruze may opt for the appearance and not be too worried about performance. So if GM is thinking about a super sport, then this is a step in the right direction. Perhaps they are testing whether the SS package sells well.

I had sent them that pic along with a bunch of other info about 2yrs back now...they did receive it and pass it around the GM Performance division...that was all before the government money bs so who know whatever happened with that info but at least the took a peak what we were hoping for.

This does look really nice, better than the one sold as a foreign appearance package.
It was just announced on, lemme think.. Motortrend that the North American Cruze will have 10 air bags (following 1 air bag per 14 horsepower) and a new rear suspension in the form of the Z-link..? I'm trying to remember off the top of my head, but they said this would 'help the Cruze with the twisties'
So if we get an SS, we don't have to worry about having a bad rear torsion bar.

"you know what Pepper, you can't polish a turd."
it's another four-door anonymous people mover with the soul of a daewoo.
a Cruze RS or SS is the same thing as having a cucumber stuffed down your pants... sure it looks impressive, but when you drop your trousers, it's nothing but produce.
this car has basically shitcanned any future GM purchase. I can't really afford a Camaro, so where does that leave me? Who else makes a small, fun to drive compact available in a coupe or 3-door?

Now you see I am sure I will be met with distaste but I partially agree with you there, the Cruze is ****, there is no point in making a mini-Malibu IMO but GM is attempting to control a new segment geared towards the Kei Car style with the Aveo RS. I would rock that as long as it keeps with the original concept...
