They're too busy building 80,000 dollar Cadillacs that nobody will buy.

my guess is that gm will likely without any warning come out with a mid class subcompact sport to compete with the dart sort and focus rs etc.... nothing crazy great but something formidable as history shows thats how they usually do it.

In My opinion the Veloster turbo is a pos its like buying a base model of a sports car subcompact i was at a relight with one the other day and even with a bad laugh i had him midway through second gear

that dart srt4 bullshit is old. theyve killed it since then. you notice the part where it says challenger to be launching in july 2014? that slide has already been picked apart back when people caught it. on the gm front you guys are halfway getting your wish. buick is launching a 2017 buick cascada with a 200hp turbo 1.6l. but thats all you get. enjoy.

My guess is that in 2016 when the new sonic design is launched they might do a sonic rs with the 1.6 turbo like I said not the worst performance in its class but not the best a mid range class sport model

GM is too busy reinventing the wheel right now. Think about it:

1. No Cruze SS ever made. Most of those cars were sold to rental agencies, reaping in the cash for GM while they get away with 5+ model years with only a front end refresh.

2. Where is the Chevy Trailblazer/GMC Envoy replacement? The Equinox is such an awful car, a crossover at best that gets 18MPG. GM keeps making them because they are a huge cash maker for the company, with the majority of those going to the fleets. The Equinox has been around forever and still looks the same as it did when it first came out. A Subaru Outback has more ground clearance.

3. The Colorado/Canyon is already a quality fail. Water leak problems galore, transmissions completely blowing up with less than 1000 miles on the trucks, transfer case issues. I know it's the first model year but these aren't exactly minor issues, either.

youve never driven an equinox have you? its one of the only chevys i would buy. my sister in law bought a loaded lt awd equinox and shes getting 24mpg and drives in town only. so i dunno where the hell youre getting 18mpg. guy i work with also has one as a rental while his car is in the shop and he loves it. his is a fwd LT but hes getting mid 20's as well. i drove my sils a few times when my brother was coming back from hospital and for a daily its not bad at all. its also not for going offroad so who gives a **** about ground clearance.

I've driven numerous versions of them. 24mpg is only do-able with the 4 cylinder, which is so incredibly underpowered it's not even funny. They suck.

Also when you drive in snow you do care about ground clearance.

they live 90miles north of seattle. well 90 miles from seattle in oak harbor. i drove through the snow. had no issues. and it was a v6. so there goes your theory. i got 26 out of a v6 JCG through moab and slc why the hell wouldnt an equinox? im not sure youre aware but you dont have to drive everywhere like youre qualifying for the pole. you get a lot better mileage that way.

If gm was smart they would start stepping up their sport compact line up an stop worrying so much about their mid life crisis cars (ie, vette camaro etc) didn't ford claim to be coming out with 12 models from 15 to 2020. I mean they have the fiesta st which chevy could make a sonic version to compete with. Then the focus st an ontop of that a focus rs. Hot hatches seem to be growing every year and chevy needs to catch on before it's too late. While we had the cobalt ss, what other american sub compacts could compete with it besides the srt4. Now that the cobalt line is gone, they loss their part in the performance sub group.

So because you can't it's impossible. Can you run a 4.2 40yd cause 2 kids just did at the nfl combine? I got 42mpg out of a cobalt rated at 35.

And the new civic type r just crushed the fwd record at the bullshitring. I wonder what new color the cruze will come in this year. Yellow I bet. Maybe green

28-30 is easily doable in a 4 cylinder equinox. The newer direct injected 2.4 is easily capable.

I disagree with your equinox comment. My wife and I have a 2013 AWD 2.4 equinox and it is a great vehicle. It's a beast in the snow and gets more like 22-23 mpg avg around town 26-28 on the highway. Looks sharp to.

Hell of a lot better than the Jeep she used to have.

It's nice for soccer moms, but ask yourself this question - would you buy one as your only car? I'm just not a fan of them, I want something that can tow a 19' boat when needed and the Equinox is not coming close to that.

Like I said, I drove the 4 banger and it was way too underpowered. Maybe I'm used to the SS but if I'm paying 30 plus grand for an suv it better be able to get out of its own way. The v6 is better but gets the same mileage as a 4 runner, and costs about the same. The Toyota is more the type of vehicle I'm looking for in that category. I know the Equinox competes with the rav 4 and those other soccer mom vehicles but that's all GM has for a midsizer and it's disappointing to say the least.

Actually, I would, lol.... I think they are sharp. I picture soccer moms driving mini vans and suburbans.... maybe you have a different type of soccer moms up in NY, ha.

The 4 banger moves out decent for a 3800lb vehicle. Def slow compared to driving an SS though, haha.

We purchased ours brand new. Stickered for 27k got it for 19k due to rebates and me swindling the salesman into dropping another 1k off due to me being a returning customer (purchased the SS there).

I'm going to be purchasing the Equinox's cousin come this fall. Looking to get a GMC Terrain. I think they look even better than the Equinox.

you might but itll be in the verano well before they put it in a cruze. same thing tho. and with rebates you can probably get a verano cheaper than a cruze. that 2.4 isnt the kind of engine you put in your luxury option. needs more.

Acura keeps trying to push their 2.4L in several models. Hell their latest commercial acts like the ILX is fast. 3100lbs and 200HP is hardly fast.

thats why noone buys them and acura is dead last. even buick sells twice what acura moves. and buick surprisingly sells 4 times as much in china as it does here. even cadillac sells twice acura. its about 15% ahead of buick. but bmw sells 7x more than both. sells more 3 series than buick and caddy sell cars period.

Yeah but the Verano is uggggggggmooo, the proportions are all whack I just dont get it, if it looked like a smaller regal GS or something then maybe, speaking of the Regal GS now THATS a Buick I'd like.

But that still answer the question, if the Verano is a dolled up Cruze anyways then why not just offer a sport Cruze with the 2.0, we know that engine works with that car now.
