Cobalt SS 2.4L 0-60 Times
Does anyone have any 0-60 times to share?
I am curious to see what my new car can do, since all the 0-60 times out there are for the SC.

I beleive they got a 7.1 sec. In any case--a 5 speed is a very low 7 sec car 0-60mph.
An auto is likely around 7.5-7.7--there is a pretty noticeable difference between the acceleration of the manual VS the automatic.

Anyway, yeah, Motor Trend got 7.1 in a 5-speed Sedan. I think if you calculated out a 0-60 time based on my 1/4 mile time it would be in the high 6 seconds.

low-mid 7's.
im sorry but anyone thinking they are hitting 6's stock is dreamin. not to mention motor trend has some VERY good drivers and that is the fastest run they were able to get. i'd say 7.5 is a good number for most decent drivers.

Decent drivers?? Please thats a cop-out.
That doesn't matter--the car is CAPABLE of a 7.1 to 60mph as done by the road test. Start throwing driver variables in there is irrelevant.
The Mitsu-Ralliart hit 7.3 IIRC--and we a it lighter and have more hp.

I live in Toronto where it is cold and has a low altitude. In the three cars I have owned I have always gotten better 1/4 mile times then the magazines quote and EVERY other car I have watched at the track with a decent driver has done the same.
BTW - If I'm dreaming, tell me how I got a 15.05 in the 1/4 mile if I was doing a 7.5 second 0-60?

But Nitrous can do a lot to change you numbers. Hitting the bottle halfway down the track can do a lot.

I didn't have nitrous at that point. That was on a stock engine with an intake.

guys. im not bashing, dont get me wrong i love the 2.4 and i wouldnt mind having one just to tune from scratch.
... when i see proof of sub 7 0-60 times i will graciously admit my mistake.
i just hate to see people thinking that because they bought a stock 2.4l I-4 they are going to have a 6.xx second 0-60. but hey, i dont drive one and i could certainly see it being possible.
btw driver is a relevent variable... all you test numbers involve a driver. some drivers representing what the car is capable of are better than other's. i do agree thought, for this argument, that we are talking about the car and not driver skill.

it also depends on how hard you are being on the car. The biggest example of this is in awd cars tho. Some wrx and sti tests for mags are FAR slower to 60 and in the quarter because they launch it like they wouldi f it was their car. times will also change as the car is worn in and transmission is a HUGE variable. for example, motortrend got a 15.3 1/4 and a 6.9 0-60 with an auto version of my car. I ran a 14.91 stock, but i do have better tires wheels and suspension components than the base model (pony package) some of you may have better tires and stuff like that. basically, if you have better tires than stock, your car is NOT stock.

maybe R/T---they usally get slower times.
But Car and Driver and M/T do not baby the cars at all. One was complaing that you could only drop the clutch at 5K in an EVO!
They frequently have pics of cars roasting the tires ect.
