What was the major difference? Just smoother shifts and less of the 'notchy' feel?

to start off my shifter imo sucked, it would periodically lock me out from most gears, i'd have to go the opposite direction and then it would accept the gear. ofcourse dealership couldnt replicate the problem. but yes, the aluminum bushings got rid of the rubbery feel. and i havent had the lockout problem anymore. ive had the bushings for a week, i cant believe i almost bought an actual short shifter and bushings. for $27 this has been the most rewarding mod.
and it only took 15 minutes to install!

That's exactly where they goThey actually go on the base of the shifter assembly. All you need to do is pull the the trim off remove the 4 nuts holding the shifter assembly in place lift it up, pop out the rubber bushings put the metal ones in and then put the shifter assembly back in and bolt it down. Very easy to do takes maybe 20 minutes, just use this short shifter how to (http://www.twmperformance.com/manual...all-manual.pdf) except keep in mind you don't have to take apart the shifter itself just lift up the whole assembly with the linkage still attached and everything.
I just put these in a week ago and I love them there is no better way to describe it except it makes the whole shifter assembly feel rigid as opposed to soft/rubbery. My kit never came with washers though
so I had to find some that worked.

Well being that the shifter isnt actually connected straight into the tranny i dont know how much if any more transfer of NVH would be felt

There are shift cables attached to the transmission, and the housing is attached to the body of the car. GM chose rubber bushings for a reason. Although I am intrigued as to why some people are claiming it makes the shifter feel more rigid, and I'd like to know the actual difference - is it a major change?

I put metal shifter bushings in my ms3 and it was night and day difference. Doesnt TWM make bushings for the SS? if this OP isnt going to say **** then **** him, TWM has bushings for $25.
It makes the shifter have a more direct feel, and pushing into gear easier. I didnt have vibes when I had mine in
