programming the car remote?

programming the car remote?

ok basically i need a new remote or w.e you call it to lock and unlock the doors and alarm. the problem is the dealer wants to charge me like $50 to program it, is this something I can do on my own?

the site that i used a couple times to program other peoples remotes i checked for you. heres the link http://www.programyourremote.com/

Is it 100% correct? I'm not sure but it says:

There is no onboard programming procedure for this vehicle. This vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote.

You need the obd II scan tool from the dealer to program them. I got my technical college to do it for me for free. Took about 15 minutes so it's pretty simple.

by obd II scan tool, you dont mean the scanner for the cel's do you?

Only the Tech II can program the remotes for newer GM models, Cobalt included. If you want to avoid the dealer, you could drop 3 grand on the Tech II.
