key stuck in ignition and car won't turn off
#6
BTW to get a key out of a stuck ignition look at the bottom of where you put the car key in and you will see a small rubber square. inside (its a bit tough to find if you dont know where it is) is a tiny button. press this and it will release your key.
The car will not release your key for a number of reasons most common being a bad ground to the ignition.
(had it happen to me)

Chevy has an issue with their ignitions, had the same problem on a suburban, had to turn the ignition on, then shift into drive (obliviously automatic) then back into park, and the key would turn out

My key just got stuck, had to stall it out and disconnect the battery. Bringing it in tomorrow.
Tried this myself, found the port, but this button is only in automatic cars. MT's are SOL on that one.

Another victim here. Happened to me last night. Stalled the car to kill it. Didn't disconnect the battery though because of multiple reasons. This morning, got some jumper cables to jump the car, no luck. And before that, my dad told me to push start it down the driveway /facepalm. Since I had only been up for 30 minutes (I'm not a morning person) and was running late, didn't even think about this not working since the electronics in the car weren't even working. Luckily, we were able to push it back into my driveway, regardless it was only 1/5 up the driveway Called Chevy and told them to pick the car up and fix it. Get a call later, but wasn't able to answer it. The guy in my voice mail said he'd give me an estimate for costs of repair.... WTF?! The car is brand new and under warranty. Tried calling him back, but of course, he's 'with a customer at the moment', so I'm waiting for him to call me back... Man, I love my Chevy I have more issues with this car than my 2007 Pontiac G5. Glad to see they got all the kinks out of my 2010 *rolleyes*

2010 here. Question though, so, I didn't disconnect the battery, I just killed the car by having it gear and slowly let off the clutch (of course, my other foot was on the brake). I turned off the exterior lights, radio, and the RPD screen. I manually lock the door and head to bed. Wake up in the morning, and of course none of the electronics work. First, I think dead battery. Well, after attempting to push start it down the driveway and trying to jump the car with no luck, I came to the conclusion that the car had completely shut down. I got my car back yesterday (Lander's works fast ). They gave me a new key and had it programmed to my car (of course) Now, my question is, is there a reset switch on this car in case someone leaves the key in the "On" position for a couple of hours? Like I said, the whole car was off. There was no way that I could see as to jump starting the car.
