This sheet provides basic information regarding production camshafts used in the ECOtec engines listed
below. This information is accurate as of November, 2006. GM reserves the right to change

Notes regarding camshaft interchangeability:
The L61 (2.2L ECOtec) camshaft changed for the 2007 model year. This change was to go to a less
aggressive cam profile with less noise, less jerk, less impact load, and better valve dynamics.
The 2007 L61 intake cam cannot interchange with any other production ECOtec cam.
The 2007 L61 exhaust cam is interchangeable with the ‘06 L61 and the LSJ exhaust cams.
The 2006 L61 intake and LSJ intake and exhaust cams are the same casting. However, the LSJ cam
sensor is driven with a hex bushing pressed into the rear of the exhaust cam. In order to operate
properly, the production LSJ cam sensor requires a cam which has a hex bushing pressed into the
exhaust camshaft with the exact orientation in angularity to the cam.
The 2006 L61 cams and LSJ cams are the same profiles at different timings. The 2006MY L61
timings are 116 intake, -103 exhaust. The LSJ timings are 100 intake, -115 exhaust.
The LNF and LE5 exhaust cams could interchange. The LNF and LE5 cams are not interchangeable
in any other way or with any other ECOtec cams.
Valve springs are the same across all variants, and should be upgraded for high-rpm operation or
increased lift.
The GM Performance Parts ECOtec cam set (88958648 set or 88958636/7 individually) are aggressive
race cams, not stock-replacement cams. They require upgraded valve springs and retainers. These
cams were designed for a race motor, using the ‘06 L61 as the starting point. The cams will not fit the
2.4L LE5 head and will not work with the stock ECM or lifters. They physically fit the 2.0L LSJ head, but
the vacuum pump / cam sensor will not work in a regular production engine.

maybe im having trouble reading it doesn't it say that LE5 has 10.039mm of lift and 195.4 duration and LNF has 10.3mm of lift and 194 duration.

Im sure it would as long as there is not too much overlap but the question is if it would be worth the money. I know ZZP said they were going to be testing cams of there own next. If your already in the head though you might as well go for it and let us know how it works

well i want to see all the variables of that cam before eather making my head better or making it worst lol...
i found this from J Body Performance they have a set of cams from the LE5 and this is the exhaust cam spec:

by my calculations thats 10.425mm of lift so thats an increase of 0.125mm lift and 8 more degrees of duration. that's not bad at all i could see a solid 10 whp gain maybe more. definatly an improvement but its kind of mild i'd like to see something in the mid to high 21x or something in the 22x duration for us big turbo guys.

the intake on the LNF is about as good as it CAN be for a turbo motor, it has a bit of overlap good lift and a really long duration (and the variable timing really helps the engine get the air) but having an extra bit of duration and lift in the exhaust can help the turbo out, which recycles that effort and makes more horsepower (more than an N/A motor would with the same mod).

i will see if i can talk to JBP to see if the would only sell me the exhaust cam... if they do i would try this mod when i install my valve springs... its somethign that everyone over looked since 06 thats when this article came out...

I'm referring to factory drivability vs. power. I mean we all realize that going with ZZP cams in the future we can expect some reduction in fuel mileage and out of boost drivability? The engine doesn't have enough compression to make real use of an aggressive camshaft IN VACUUM, now that doesn't mean there won't be sharp increases in power it just means your changing where you will find that power. It also means you will make more power at less boost which is good for those of us on the factory turbocharger.
