it has to do with the led and how its made. it will never do anything thou, not to the life of the led or the batt of your car, it prob has to do with the resistor size on the back on the led board

It doesn't matter where you get them, they all do it. The map lights always have a small amount of constant power to them, but the normal halogen lights need so much power to light up that you don't see it. With the LEDs, they need so little power to light up that they are always dimly lit.

Pull the little plastic covers off under the light. Theres little slots where you can use a screw driver to pry the lens off. The bulbs are a major pain to get out if you don't have the right tool.

Uhhh.. Let me see if I can find a picture. It was like a pair of thin curved needle nose pliers that I slid behind the bulb and pried out the base.

he meant for pulling the bulb out, cuz you certainly can't do it with your hands. Nowhere near enough room.

It is due to how the body controller for the lighting works and the transistorized relays used to control the factory bulbs. There is a very small amount of leakage current that wouldn't be enough to light a regular bulb but due to how little current is required to light a light emitting diode (LED) they will glow somewhat even when off. It's pretty common on a lot of cars that uses a computerized power module to control body lighting functions (which is done to provide the theater diming, battery rundown protection, etc.).

If it bothers you then you should be able to stop it by wiring in a small resistor in series with the LED. This will put enough load on the circuit to dissipate the leakage current when off so that the LED won't light up when off.

i have an '08 sport and Im debating wether or not to get the LEDs for my Map Lights. How Much brighter are they than the 194s. i know they are a diff color, but did the interior get brighter. Also which version did you get? thanks in advance.

The stock bulbs are MUCH brighter than the LED's. The color looks color with the LED's, but they are no where near as bright and serve almost no purpose for reading something in the dark.

If they were resistored correctly, they would function exactly as the filament bulbs do. They are probably over powered.

Not mine, my leds are a LOT brighter than the stock halogens...I had no other reason to replace them other than brightness

heres a comparison pic
