Cold air intake
Can anyone help me out. I purchased a 2006 chevy cobalt ss supercharger coupe from my friend. Everything runs great. I just have one question about it. It has a cold air intake that runs down close to where my front bumber is. I have heard some stories that if it sits that close and you run over a puddle it can suck up water and ruin your engine. Now is it possible to take out the intake and cut the tube to make it shorter or should i just get a short ram intake. Any suggestions or the cheapest way to do it?

Only way you can suck up water is high RPMs, like 5-6k maybe.
Otherwise, the filter is just going to get a little wet, and you can remedy that by a hydro shield.
No short rams are available for the LSJ, and you definitely don't want to cut the tube.. Leave it.
Cheapest way is to get that hydro shield on the filter.

Some can convert to short ram. Let me tell you...I ran into a huge puddle of water and I hydro locked my engine. Thru insurance I got a new engine drop in...
Buy a short ram intake...
Please...

A few places sell them.
TurboTechRacing sells them, I believe.
A couple brands of them are from Injen and K&N.
Just jack the car up when you have it and slip it on the filter and done.
It will cost maybe, like $30.
