Remove the airbag using a small straight screw driver to release the clips in the square holes in the back. Then remove the nut in the center. Unplug everything. Grasp the steering wheel at 9 and 3, pull back and forth to remove off the splines.

as stated above, but make sure you discconect the battery, soo the airbag has no chance of accidenly going off,

why you want to take off the steering wheel?

well I am adding a cruise control kit to my car but I am using factory switches. I bought a steering wheel with factory cruise buttons on it. I used factory switches for my power windows so this shouldn't be too hard.

The clock spring.. its what allows the wires that travel to the wheel to turn.

Hum... like they said disconnect the battery and wait 15 mins so that the emergency power supply in the control module depletes. When you are working on the air bag make sure that you are grounded. Also make sure that you treat it with utmost respect. always carry it face up. So in case it does blow, it will smash your feet, not your face, or hit the floor, depends how big your feet are. remember that it only requires about .5 volts to set off an air bag, so a static shock in the right place is all it takes. Oh yea if it does go off you wont even have time to get out of the way. Dont throw it around once you are done with it. You could sell it on ebay for a nice profit. But it can only be shipped by ground. (US laws for explosives)

As for the steering wheel, You can use a steering wheel puller once you losen the nut or you can lossen it and grab it on either side and give it a jerk as you pull, it should take it off the spline. Just make sure the nut is there so you dont punch yourself in the face with it.

Also potatoe is right about the clock spring. You will need it for sure, and it might be very expensive.

I'm a bodyman, so i change them all the time. I've seen videos of them going off unattached. Its a very dangerous component. So please be careful. And happy modding.

I seem to be having trouble removing the wires that connect the airbag to the sir coil. I don't want to break anything so that is why i'm asking. and speaking of the sir coil, you all were right, it does not have the pins for cruise. it only has 2 pins for the horn. if it is too costly to buy the right one, i might just mount the buttons on the dash and save my money.

okay i'm really having trouble here. I got the new wheel on but the air bag pins will only go half way in. anyone had this problem?? and now when I make a turn, the turn signals stay on instead of automatically shutting off after I straighten the wheel like thay should. damn.. I guess it's another trip to the dealer for me..
