i have been working on my bonnie for the past 2 years and i have came into a bit harder times i still wanna finish the bonnie but i wouldn't be able to finish her with all the body work i would have to do. that's where my cobalt comes in, its a 09 2,2 that I've been wanting to mod forever, i was thinking of bring the 2 together and having the best of both worlds.
what i need to do to make it work would be make or mod the mounts, new custom axles, mod the engine cradle mounts and wiring
the reason im posting on here is so i can get other points of view on the subject and no i dont wana built the 2.2 or swap a lsj or lnf i have a 3.8 that i already have $1600 into

Cam. Its a OHV motor.
And no he didn't; you can't run a cam with 1.9 rockers.
My 98 GTP had an L32 (Series 3 3800), Gen V, 3.2" pulley, headers, full stack IC, etc. Loved it. Hated it being auto.
Series 1's were absolute garbage compared to Series 2 and 3. If this happens please don't use a Series 1.

Your 2.2 transmission will work on a gen 1, 2, 3 but you have to buy a 2.2 bellhousing 00-02... your axle will work... and you have to found a camaro flywheel 3, 8 and you have to get machined like a 2.2

Gotta think outside the box... you can run a seriesII in the cobalt, don't let the elec tb scare you, you don't need a seriesIII. Run a cable, fab up a pedal similar to a jbody or the like (lots of options), there you go, done.
I have put some thought into this since I already have a 3800 Sunfire, and a cobalt. Installing the motor into the cobalt is the least of my worries, I could do that in a weekend.
The only thing that has me worried is the wiring, I already run a full set of Autometer gauges so speedo, tach, etc, are taken care of... getting the rest wiring up would be the headache.

Considering one would replace all the necessary cluster gauges with autometer, speedo, tach, fuel level, oil pressure.
How difficult would it be to wire the ECM to still control the simple things like HVAC, windows, lights, etc. ?
Aside from going full standalone, this is my issue, if there is a simple fix for this I would be willing to attempt this swap, I just want to make sure I don't disrupt the finer things like my window going down or my interior light coming on when I open the door.
I have taken measurements from my Sunfire and compared them to the Cobalt, the engine will fit nicely, the front corners are a bit tighter since they are angled. Overall the Cobalt's subframe and overall build is much stronger than a Jbody... if mine can handle 400whp and many times down the track, the Cobalt will take the power just fine.
