Gen 3 short block

The gen 3 short block that zzp is selling will this bolt up to a stock gen 1 head? Basically this is a new oem built motor? They say its good for 500hp? Also would gen 1 timing chain and water pump and stuff all swap over?

Yep everything is a direct swap over. They give you a new oil cooler because the gen 3 one is different. So one of the coolant hoses you have to make your own due to the fitting facing an odd way. Oil pressure sensor goes in a different hole. Otherwise all direct bolt up.

It really is. 2k for a brand new short block capable of over 500whp in its stock form. Mongorat427 can build you something off the same platform that has a used crank but with forged pistons for about $500 more if you wanted to push more hp.

If you're willing to spend 2k on a gen 3 block why not spend a little more and include forge internals, from mongo that is

Because a nice plus side is it's a brand new top to bottom OEM built motor and you are buying it from a company that will back up the motor. Not saying mongo wouldn't but I bought a built motor off someone on here and it turned into a paper weight because it wasn't built properly.

Very true, but I knew that before I bought my block as any buyer should but I also have confidence in Mongo's abilities to build a forged bottom end properly before selling it

One faces forward properly, the other faces backwards. Where they both face forwards with the Gen 1. So I just got some hose and looped it around.

No oil cooler on the Gen 3 2.4 but I am adding one to my 2.1 by removing the galley plug at the end of the block and running the line to a B&M oil cooler and then running it to the turbo.

Great idea, I was just going to tap the back of the block but I think I'll copy your idea lol

Watch for leaks, they'll be critical quick if it's supplying a turbo. Lot of Ford Lightnings and Ford GT's suffered early leak problems with oil coolers when I worked with Ford.
