Info on hybrids not covered in the sticky?
2.3l hybrid using an LE5 crank on an L61. Is it doable? I've read that 07+ use the same reluctor rings so Im assuming the cranks would be swappable? (Could be wrong) Could I use forged 2.2l rods and pistons or would I need custom pistons? I think the forged rods would work, from what I read. If its only custom pistons I would need, what kind of custom pistons?
Finally, (Ive been curious about this and also got a PM about it) running an LSJ head on an L61 block. What would be needed to do it, besides the LSJ head?
I've been reading JBO all afternoon trying to figure it out but am not coming up with much for the late model L61s.

If you are keeping your block/pistons/rods, then you can swap the cranks. I can't say for certain on the reluctors as I haven't opened up the 2.2's personally but I was under the impression they are all the same except for the LSJ one being different. Your rods will stay as whatever you need to match the pistons, if you use a bigger aftermarket rod be sure to check for clearance around the block/crank girdle area.
LSJ head is bolt-on, you will need to address the different sensor changes though and plugs for coils I believe.

Well from what I understand after seeing a recent thread where a guy swapped an LE5 in to replace a hydrolocked L61, the PCM's are the same, so that would lead me to believe that they have the same CPS for the reluctor. I know that from either 07+ or 08+ the are 58 tooth gears so they should be the same, but the big emphasis is on the word "should".
What would stock 2.2 rods and pistons do to compression ratios? And would they clear the deck without impacting the valves or head?

Post in the sticky. Some of the more knowledgeable people might have it set to notify when someone replies to that thread and could maybe better answer your question.
